A society is a word which means 'aggregate of people living together'. So if a characteristic of a society is to be noted it should be gregarious, it should include the replete cities, villages and states. We can take Mumbai as our example. People living in Mumbai are well educated, cultured and employed. Buildings in Mumbai are so tall and well built. We all know that Mumbai is one of the famous cities in the world. But take the nearer places of Mumbai where slums live. People are not educated well, unemployed and adverse with the culture of people who lives in Mumbai. So we should understand that if we want to know about Maharashtra it is not enough to study its major city Mumbai, we should study the near by places also where people's lifestyle is entirely different.

Pro

Just because one must study its small towns and villages too doesn't mean that it isn't necessary for one to study its major cities.

There may be a point that we can easily study the character of a society as people are urbanizing to major cities to seek money. But as urbanization is taking place pristine character of a city is gone. For example we can take Bangalore where people from different places come to seek job. As various people from various place are adapting Bangalore. Bangalore is adulterated so we can not really study the real culture of Bangalore. These people will migrate once their jobs are over. But when we go to nearby places of Bangalore we can still see native people and we can characterize Bangalore to some extent.
So I conclude that above statement does not go true in maximum of the cases.

Actually my opponent only furthermore shows the wonderful diversity one can find in studying a major city. It is ESSENTIAL!
