DEFINITIONS:

Trash picking -- Keeping the local laws and ordinances in mind ... When you see a likely piece of garbage, simply stop ... and take it.
http://www.associatedcontent.com...
*Obviously this is not an orthodox definition. But, I assume you know what I mean by 'trash picking'. Do not use semantics.

Here are some more sources on what 'trash picking' is:

http://www.lime.com...
http://www.thelivingweb.net...

should -- used in auxiliary function to express obligation, propriety, or expediency
http://www.merriam-webster.com...

illegal -- not according to or authorized by law

U.S. -- United States of America

==========

I was walking with my friend last night. And we saw a trash picker. My friend proclaimed that trash picking should be illegal. I disagreed. So, I would now like to debate this on DDO. My opponent will be taking the place of my friend and will argue why trash picking should be illegal in the U.S. My opponent has the BoP, so I will allow my opponent to go first.

Thank you and good luck to whoever accepts the debate.

It would be ridiculously hard to enforce that law and would really serve no purpose.

>I agree.

-I am Con, which means I believe trash picking should be legal.
-You are Pro, which means you believe trash picking should be illegal.

I guess you concede then...?

"...its like trying to find good reason to eat puppies."

If you like eating puppies. What's the difference between eating puppies and eating chickens?

RFD:
B/A: CON/CON
Conduct: CON - Pro forfeited... and didn't even argue.
S&G: CON - Pro didn't capitalize a word.
Arguments: CON - Yeah.
Sources: CON - Clearly.

Burden of proof belongs to the instigator. The titles PRO/CON don't make any difference. I may just take up this debate just to challenge you on that. :D

Drawls? lol

How is drawls pronounced? Does it even sound like drawers?

:( My wife saw my last comment and is making me apologize for talking about my drawls ... drawers, sorry sweetie. Drawls is not a proper term and, no, respectable folks in the southern US don't use it.

I don't think trash picking should be illegal, just that reusing some of the items in my trash would be ... inadvisable. I mean, when my drawls (drawers for my friends in the northern U.S.) get so bad I have to throw them out then others should leave them be, really. All I need is the CDC showing up to my house because my old Tommys caused an outbreak in the homeless community. Where is Eggleston? He would love this one - the debate, not my old drawls.

legal should be illegal.

Let me put it this way.

Everything has always been legal. It took gov't to make it illegal. The gov't had to give reasons to make the actions legal. The gov't does not have to give reasons to keep things legal.

Nags, you have made a statement. You are the one who initiated the discussion. The legality of the issue is irrelevant.

Any time you make a statement or claim, you MUST support it, or your statement will not be trusted. That is how the BoP works.
