Pro Let a = b. Then a^2 = ab. Subtract b^2 from both sides. Then a^2-b^2=ab-b^2. Use difference of squares. (a+b)(a-b)=b(a-b) Divide both sides by (a-b). Then a+b=b. Now let a=1, then b=1. Substitute a=1 and b=1 into a+b=b. Thus 2=1.Report this Argument Con Flaw: <> I see what you were trying to do, but you made a simple and understandable mistake, as you can't use the difference of squares for "ab-b^2" to become b(a-b). The value of "2" is twice the value of "1". It's a constant. A given. Your equation has failed to prove otherwise. Thank you.Report this Argument

Nice quote by the way, read that in the athiest's bible a little while back. Really good.

I guess you could argue that "The value of "2" is twice the value of "1". It's a constant. A given." is your evidence against his claim. But I would consider it to be just restating the con side of the argument.

Yeah, maybe when that friend thing gets online we will be happy friend, and have amazing debates together. eh?

I noticed that, and now I'm going to go and change some of my opinions.

HA! Just kidding.

For the sake of argument I disagree. The pro offers me his equation is obviously flawed and you attack his equation saying so but your attack is also flawed. So really by the end of the debate I have no one to vote for which is sad. But as the pro is the first debater and proposed the subject and you didn't actually contradict his argument, I must vote for him.

By the way, we have a 0% disagreement ratio, how amazing is that?

But you didn't show that his proof was invalid, and so there is no reason to vote for you. Obviously he's wrong, but he won the debate.

I respect that, Yrael, but I don't respect your abilities to judge. One flawed equation against a fact and an accurate claim:

The value of "2" is twice the value of "1". It's a constant. A given.

Your equation has failed to prove otherwise.

Yrael, you are fit to judge, but thanks for doing so anyway. Good day.

okay.... (ab) - (b^2) = b(a-b) there is nothing wrong with the math there. There is definitely something wrong with his math but it is not there..... Thus i must vote against you.
