My opponent must be a Christian Woman.

1. The Bible convicts women as the original sinners, Eve picking from the forbidden tree
"When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable"for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband,"who was with her, and he ate it." (Genesis 3:6)

The Quran clarifies both of them were guilty
"So he made them fall, through deception. And when they tasted of the tree, their private parts became apparent to them, and they began to fasten together over themselves from the leaves of Paradise. And their Lord called to them, 'Did I not forbid you from that tree and tell you that Satan is to you a clear enemy?' They said, 'Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers." (Quran 7:22-23)

2. The Bible says, the birth of a daughter is a loss
"An uneducated son is a disgrace
to a father,"and a daughter's birth is a liability." (Ecclesiasticus 22:3)

And also, women become impure after giving birth.
" "...if a woman have conceived seed, and born a man child: then she shall be uncleanseven days...but if she bear a maid child, then she shall be unclean"two weeks..." (Leviticus 12:2-5)

The Quran says both are an equal blessing
"He creates what he wills. He gives to whom He wills female [children], and He gives to whom He wills males." (Quran 42:49)

The Quran also blames those who buried their daughters alive.
"And when one of them is informed of [the birth of] a female, his face becomes dark, and he suppresses grief. He hides himself from the people because of the ill of which he has been informed. Should he keep it in humiliation or bury it in the ground? Unquestionably, evil is what they decide." (Quran 16:58-59)
"And when the girl who was] buried alive is asked for what sin she was killed." (Quran 81:8-9)

3. The Bible forbids women from speaking in church and learning stuff.
"Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission,"as the law"says."If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church." (1 Corinthians 14:34-35).

The Quran says Women can argue with the Prophet {58:1}
"Certainly has Allah heard the speech of the one who argues with you, [O Muhammad], concerning her husband and directs her complaint to Allah. And Allah hears your dialogue; indeed, Allah is Hearing and Seeing." (Quran 58:1)

Prophet Muhammqd said: "Seeking knowledge is obligatory on every Muslim man and Muslim woman."

4. In the Bible, divorced women are labeled as an adulteress, while men are not
"it has been said "Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.""But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, makes her the victim of adultery, and anyone who marries a divorced woman commits adultery. (Matthew 5:31-32)

On the contray, The Quran allows men to divorce if necessary
"O Prophet, when you [Muslims] divorce women, divorce them for [the commencement of] their waiting period and keep count of the waiting period, and fear Allah." (Quran 65:1)

5. The Bible says a man or woman who re-marries has committed adultry.
"...Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her. And if she divorces her husband and marries another man, she commits adultery." (Mark 10:11-12)

The Quran orders women to wait for three months after divorce to make sure if they are pregnant or not. Then they can marry again.
"Divorced women remain in waiting for three periods, and it is not lawful for them to conceal what Allah has created in their wombs if they believe in Allah and the Last Day. And their husbands have more right to take them back in this [period] if they want reconciliation. And due to the wives is similar to what is expected of them, according to what is reasonable. But the men have a degree over them [in responsibility and authority]." (Quran 2:228)

"And when you divorce women and they have [nearly] fulfilled their term, either retain them according to acceptable terms or release them according to acceptable terms, and do not keep them, intending harm, to transgress [against them]. And whoever does that has certainly wronged himself." (Quran 2:231)

6. In The Bible, widows and sisters do not Inherit any property or wealth, Only men do. (Numbers 27:1-11)

The Quran abolished this male greediness. (Quran 4:7-11)

7. The Bible allows multiple wives
"Solomon had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines..." (1 Kings 11:3)

In The Quran, Allah limits the number to four only under certain situations (with the wife's permission) and prefers you marry only one wife.
"If you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly with the orphans, marry women of your choice, two, or three, or four; but if you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly (with them), then only one... to prevent you from doing injustice." (Quran 4:3)

The Quran also gives the woman the right to choose who to marry.

8. "If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, he shall pay the girl's father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the girl, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives." (Deuteronomy 22:28-30)

One must ask a simple question here, who is really punished, the man who raped the woman or the woman who was raped? According to the Bible, you have to spend the rest of your life with the man who raped You.

Prophet Muhammad says {Volume 9, Book 86, Number 101} narrated by Aisha:" It is essential to have the consent of a virgin (for the marriage)".

Would the Christian men reading this prefer the women they know to be Christian or Muslim?

9. The Bible also asks women to wear veils as in Islam (1 Corinthians 11:3-10}, this lowers the chance of rape.

10. The Bible says if a woman touches something during her menses, it will become unclean.
"When a woman has her regular flow of blood, the impurity of her monthly period will last seven days, and anyone who touches her will be unclean till evening. anything she lies on during her period will be unclean, and anything she sits on will be unclean. Whoever touches her bed must wash his clothes and bathe with water, and he will be unclean till evening. Whoever touches anything she sits on must wash his clothes and bathe with water, and he will be unclean till evening. Whether it is the bed or anything she was sitting on, when anyone touches it, he will be unclean till evening." (Leviticus 15:19-23)

Bur, Prophet Muhammad was asked if when a man and a woman make love then their clothes stick to them from the sweat of their bodies, or if when a woman has her period her clothes stick to her body, are the clothes considered unclean?"
The Prophet replied: "No, the uncleanness is only in the semen and the blood."

Con

I will gladly accept this debate due to the reasons of inappropriate/selective facts that have been posted regarding the Bible passages.

1. The passage from the Quaran does not indicate that both of them were guilty. Regarding the passage from the Bible, since both of them were present at the same time during the act they are both to be blamed.

2. "An euill nurtured son is the dishonor of his father that begate him: and a [foolish] daughter is borne to his losse" is the actual Bible quote.

"Say to the Israelites: "A woman who becomes pregnant and gives birth to a son will be ceremonially unclean for seven days, just as she is unclean during her monthly period. 3 On the eighth day the boy is to be circumcised. 4 Then the woman must wait thirty-three days to be purified from her bleeding. She must not touch anything sacred or go to the sanctuary until the days of her purification are over. 5 If she gives birth to a daughter, for two weeks the woman will be unclean, as during her period. Then she must wait sixty-six days to be purified from her bleeding"

3. This passage is correct.

4. I believe you have misinterpreted this passage. It mentions that when men divorce women they need to give a proof of divorce (certificate). Somebody who divorces his wife not applicable if that cause was sexual immorality of the woman, which will make her the victim of adultery.... see my point?

5. "He answered, "Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her. 12 And if she divorces her husband and marries another man, she commits adultery" this is the correct passage....

6." Say to the Israelites, "If a man dies and leaves no son, give his inheritance to his daughter. 9 If he has no daughter, give his inheritance to his brothers. 10 If he has no brothers, give his inheritance to his father"s brothers. 11 If his father had no brothers, give his inheritance to the nearest relative in his clan, that he may possess it. This is to have the force of law for the Israelites, as the Lord commanded Moses" is the correct passage

7. "He had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines, and his wives led him astray. 4 As Solomon grew old, his wives turned his heart after other gods, and his heart was not fully devoted to the Lord his God, as the heart of David his father had been. 5 He followed Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, and Molek the detestable god of the Ammonites. 6 So Solomon did evil in the eyes of the Lord; he did not follow the Lord completely, as David his father had done" in him doing that he had gone astray from his father's belief. this is a lesson to be learned about polygamy.

i would go on but as it is observed the statements made by the initiator are not correct..

Islam gives no respect to women, in fact, Islam degrades women. In the Israelites Law Book, yes the man is the head of the woman, but that doesn't give him the right to mistreat her. A man is supposed to love a woman as he loves himself, but most importantly as he loves God and Christ. If he disrespects the woman in any way, it shows that he has hatred toward his wife, toward God and Christ and he will be judged for that.

If a wife is disobedient to her husband, the husband CANNOT beat her, it is against our Law Book. If the wife is disobedient, she is to be counseled and corrected with the Scriptures. If she does not take the counsel and correction of the Scriptures, the husband has the choice to divorce that woman if he'd like and she will be judged by The Most High God.

Ugh. Con, Pro's 3rd statement and all quotes from Corinthians are CULTURALLY SPECIFIC.
@EliasL
Not really. I'd like for you to provide evidence to me that there is no God (you can't, now can you? :) )
And I cannot provide PHYSICAL evidence to you that there is - just my own beliefs and experiences.
Being rude by making a statement such as that doesn't help the agnostic cause, it simply makes more people upset with agnostics.

Religion in general does not support rights of really anyone. Generally, most religion tells you that your only purpose it to worship a proofless character. So yeah, you have no rights.

I'm not a christian woman, but I have 3 christian sisters, so I am familiar with the topic. I noticed you left a lot of the good things about woman out of the Bible BTW

Vi-spex, First of all, I 'd personally appreciate it if you could be a little more polite with your comments. Secondly, this isn't a troll debate, there's very little to suggest that.

But thirdly, the reason I wouldn't accept this debate is because of the motion's wording. See, the original texts may provide more or less rights, but what's missed here is that the texts would only matter if they were both being taken as unflinching doctrine, a.k.a., fundamentalism. Islam as a religion is almost completely fundamentalist. Don't misunderstand; fundamentalism does not equate to extremism, I am not trying to imply that. The Quran may grant more rights than the Bible, but the Bible is not the same law book that its Islamic equivalent has remained.

Reasons for voting decision: Pro forfeited the majority of the debate, in the form of a complete forfeiture of all rounds except the initial round used to open the debate itself. This is misconducted in the terms of standard norms of conduct, as the standard acceptable debate conduct was violated by this forfeiture. Con graciously extended their arguments and bounced the debate back to Pro so that Pro would gain an equal number of rounds, which is very gracious and positive conduct in debate settings. This gracious conduct must be awarded, and, as a voter, Pro's poor conduct via. forfeiture of the debate must be penalized, at least in conduct. Arguments to Con as Pro could not fulfill their entire burden of proof, and Con managed to refute all of Pro's contentions, and forwarded these counter-contentions through the debate. Pro was unable to rebut these counter-contentions or defend their arguments due to their forfeiture. Therefore, arguments and conduct go to Con. As always, happy to clarify this RFD.
