VIP culture. The culture where the a few people are valued higher than that of the "common man" . The sons and daughters and close relatives of these VIPs have an open ticket to whatever institutions or jobs they fancy just because of one qualification. That is, their parent or relative is a VIP. This sets back the country in many ways. People with real talent find it very difficult to come up as their opportunity is snatched away by people who have a lot of influence. So how can we say that VIP culture promotes a smooth functioning of the system?

VIP culture is very useful to a country. A VIP is often a person in leadership, and is therefore probably one of the people directing operations in the event of a crisis, so you should get out of their way RIGHT NOW so they can better organize things. Another VIP would be a person on the board of a large company. These guys are motivated by self-interest, and so is everyone else. Those everyone else include the people in charge of admissions.
People with real talent have a tendency to compete with other talented people for scholarships, often sponsored by VIPs, or the organizations the VIPs head.
The smooth functioning part comes into play when the VIP gets a front-of-the-line pass that he probably paid for, if not in money, then in favors, and needs whatever he needs now. He obviously needs that for something important.
In any case, VIPs are as constant as death, the common cold, and taxes, so there is no use complaining about them even if they were bad.

Because of what has become a depressing trend of people posting first arguments and then disappearing, I'm just going to use this time to get out and walk around.
However, the whiny social justice crusaders have successfully flooded Google with their mindless complaining, so I can't get an objective look at it.
Because I can't get a good look at something that isn't tinted with the lens of hopeless idealism, assumptions have to be made.
Nah, too much work, for a debate that obviously was abandoned by con.
I'm taking that walk now.
