Video Games DO cause violence. The violent nature of our generations of current games brainwash peoples minds into thinking it's, "Just a game." Or, "It's not bad." Little do they know it makes them into killers.

To say that video games cause violence is an outrage. If this was simply but an ounce of truth, then every person who bought a video game that contained violence would become a "killer". However, since they haven't, that leaves one option left, and that's to say that it's simply the persons unstable mind. There have been only a handful of tragic events that have been blamed on video games. Each of those times, the person seemed to be mentally unstable. (Take the Newtown Conneticuit shooting for example).

The same thing can be said for many other things such as movies, books, TV shows, etc... They contain violent content, but they aren't the cause of any violence.

To say that EVERY person who plays video games turns into a killer is not true. What a vast majority of people are saying is that games that require the player to kill or to injure another being or animal, may cause the person the become "Interested" in harming others.

While it might interest some in harming others, it's highly unlikely. People with stable minds know that what is shown on screen is not actually happening in real life. You must be utterly sick-minded to think off attaching a chain saw to a gun, and actually killing people that way. To even imagine that, you need to be confined to a mental institute.

I stil also don't see why people keep singling out video games as a source of violence, when most R rated movies explicitly depict violence in MUCH MUCH worse ways. The amount of blood in Halo is minor, even the amount of blood in Black Ops is. Also, most games have gore filters.

I'm saying, anything can influence people... Especially music.

By the same token, Donald, rap music and MTV should encourage violence by romanticising criminality. You don't, however, see people blaming Disney for an increase in piracy. The problem isn't that video games or gangsta rap or r rated movies *cause* violence, it's that people with underlying violent tendencies are attracted to forms of entertainment that align with those tendencies. I strongly believe that, had your friend been born prior to the video game age, he would have been similarly influenced by violent movies or books.

I would like to mention that my friend has played violent games his whole life and he told me that they do encourage violent behavior. I also play violent games and agree with him.

Truth is, we are influenced by anything we think is cool... Not by the games, but by the characters. We take after those characters. After Saints Row 3, my friend suddenly started trying to form a gang. Next, he tried learning how to do Free Running after AC (and started taking a home made hidden blade to school) and Mirror's Edge. Not really because of the game, but the characters he wanted to take after. Same with me and anyone else I know.

WE may know we aren't killing anyone, but in our minds, we are still out trying to kill prostitutes and sell drugs on GTA after blowing up a gas station. They make killing look cool, by making the killer's look like 'bad-asses.'
