Video games are not very beneficial, especially when compared to other activities. The social communication is extremely weak even to something like Skype. The reading benefits are lacking in figurative language, something that takes up half of the English language and books aren't going to swear every two sentences. You aren't interacting with your environment, something that has been proven to help children learn. In conclusion, video games are not really beneficial at all and you would expect that from something that has been created solely for entertainment and enjoyment.

Takes way too much of their time sitting around. Limited use is much more to be desired than being addicted to them. One way to find out an addiction is turn it off and see the reaction.
