I say that video games do not cause pur violence for the fact that violence is a choice we make, not something we're influenced to do

I say that video games do cause violence in certain circumstances. Before I start the debate I would like to say I do play video games (do I even need to say that I mean I'm 15 and male) and don't think that they should be banned but do think that they do cause some degree of violence.

I look forward to my opponents opening argument.

I say thank you for accepting the argument. I am here to state that the first violent game I've played was a CoD game, I don't know which one. I was not influenced on violence by it as my violence was influenced when I was younger and watched TV. I am not saying TV should be banned either but still. Violence is not the main source. the main source comes from outside lives and anger. There are more influential things such as bullying or taunting online. Playing the game is not the influence, its the taunting of bullying and online gamer talk. I don't want to offend people, but books, TV, and bullying/taunting are extremely descriptive and influential on the statement of violence.

Video games may not have a violent impact on you but it does seem that the evidence suggests a weak link between the two.

I can certainly point to individual cases where video games have doubtless caused (at least in part) violence [1]. And I feel that this is enough, if video games cause acts of violence in specific cases then it can be said that video games cause violence.

There is also a statistical argument here is a graph of video game spending over time [3] and here is a graph of the mass shootings [4], as you can see there does seem to be a correlation.

Now let me be very clear over what I am and am not saying:

I am saying that is for a select number of people video games do seem to have some kind of influence over people and cause them to commit violent acts (something that can be shown by a statistically significant correlation between video game spending and mass shootings).

I am not saying that video games should be banned, for the same reason I am anti gun regulation this quote sums up my feeling in regard to this: "Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." -Benjamin Franklin [5].
