Hello. My name is Isaac and I feel that violence in the media is a bad thing and should be gone forever. One way to make this a reality is to eliminate it completely from videogames.
Did you know that the video games you are playing are bad for you? There are millions of games to play and a lot of them contain violence, blood and gore. In violent games like Halo, Call of Duty and Assassins" Creed, players murder other people played by the computer or fellow players. Sometimes players cannot distinguish reality from virtual reality. Violent video games should be more restricted or even banned.
Violent video games should be banned because they can cause aggressive behavior. Youths who have played violent video games showed more physical violence than those who did not. "Some field experiments have used behaviors such as biting, pinching, hitting, pushing, and pulling hair; behaviors that were not modeled in the game. The fact that these aggressive behaviors occur in natural environments does not make them "normal" play behavior, but it does increase the face validity" (Anderson). A test can be said to have face validity if it "looks like" it is going to measure what it is supposed to measure. The psychological effects that these extremely violent games have on youths can be terrible. Not only do they tend to bite, hit and hurt other kids, they also bully their fellow classmates verbally. They even get into fist fights with their peers. It is this kind of violence in the media that make people extremely aggressive when they normally are not. These effects of the game don"t only hurt the players but hurt others as well.
Violent video games should be banned because they have caused people to die. "Recently, a 14 year old boy HUNG himself after his Runescape account was canceled. Another 12 year old boy jumped out of his apartment building to his death after World of Warcraft was taken away from him for a week" (Ruperttheg). These games are a serious problem if teenagers are taking their own lives when they don"t have their games. That is just horrible. If a person sees and controls rapid gunfire, stabs a virtual person, and kills other players, then there is no telling that this person will go out there and buy a gun or knife and kill a person in real life. These sorts of games could be a cause for the recent shooting in Newtown. A human life is not worth loosing because of a video game. These awful things are portrayed as the right thing to do and fun in some games. Players get rewarded for killing virtual people, but they should not think they would get rewarded for killing a real person. No person wishes these consequences onto his/her self or his/her child, so no person should advocate for such games.
Violence is a gruesome, horrible difficulty in the world and should be gone entirely. Sadly, that is not possible. Yet, what is possible is to get rid of all animated violence in the media, especially in videogames. If there was no violence in videogames, then players would not resort to it. If there was no violence in videogames, then the world could be a better place.

Hello, my name is Matthew Lucido, and I and for violent video games. Violent video games have their faults, but their benefits outweigh their faults.
As my fellow debater said, video gamers can have trouble distinguishing video games from reality. But, one thing he did not say was that this is a huge minority. A out of all of the sources arguing for violent games, they all agree that less than one millionth of all people who play violent games are affected in negative ways. in fact, many are affected in positive ways.
In 2010, a Muse mag survey found that action-packed games improve reaction times, which is for everyone, not just select cases. in the study, those who played violent video games had an average of 50 % better reaction times. Another thing these games do is improve quick decision making. This can help in the real world when a person is confronted with a change in plans or something they did not expect. To recap, video games have caused a very few select cases, but along with those few cases also improves the reaction time of millions of players. So, if you were to ask anyone who played COD or HALO, you would get the response that no, they aren't thinking horrible thoughts or have gotten into
fistfights. No, they haven't been negatively affected in any way. They are living full, meaningful lives and and just like having a little fun as well.

If it takes a violent video game to make a kid go out and murder. It's obvious that they're very weak minded and in need of therapy.
