If you have an id, you are a citizen, you have the right to vote. Without an id, you don't have the right to vote.

Con

(1) Voter ID laws reduce turnout. Basically, lots of people don't have photo ID's. Getting one isn't very easy. First, voters have to figure out how to get an ID. Second, they'll have to actually get it, which might involve taking days off work (e.g. the DMV doesn't function on weekends, often), transportation costs, getting documentation (e.g. birth certificates) to actually get the ID, and so on. This is a significant disincentive to vote, especially among low-income individuals who'd struggle with this already. http://goo.gl... This means lower incentive for politicians to help them out, and inability to represent themselves.

(2) Voter fraud is a myth. One study of 2,068 cases found that there have only been ten cases of voter fraud since 2000 that could've been prevented by ID laws. https://goo.gl... Another comprehensive study suggests no confirmed cases of voter fraud at all. https://goo.gl... Disenfranchisement is a greater affront to democracy. Vote Con.
