I think the voting age should be raised to 21 due to young kids not fully understanding most issues that concern America. Not only raised to to 21, but college students not being allowed to vote either, due to professor guidance and pushing their agenda's on the students. They are very easily manipulated. :)

I would first like to say thank you for the invite.
I do not believe that the voting age should be raised to 21. The main reason that I think this is that at age 18 teenagers fully mature into adults, thus giving them many responsibilities, which, in turn, makes them more responsible.

You're very welcome....

How is it that 18 year olds are "fully mature"?!? They can't even drink a beer.... lol

At that age the crime rate is highest, less family oriented, and have far less responsibility then any other adult. How is that they can come up with a responsible decision on who will benefit the population best? Again, very easily influenced by their parents and by their professors. I'll go out on limb and say that at least 90% of kids 18-21 vote depending on those two influences. So, is it far that daddy gets not only his vote but the votes from his two kids also?

Speaking on college students, how can they come up with a even remotely educated vote seeing how they are still learning about the world in which they live in? Not to mention that the kids 18-21 pay the least taxes in this country. Being in that age group once, obviously, know that the are not concerned with the real issues of the world yet concern them self's with little more then sex, drugs, and rock n roll!!! Let alone the current income tax reforms, health care premiums, and many other issues that they have yet to deal with. Thus proving that they are ignorant in terms of fully understanding the importance of political agendas, there recourses, and have no room to interfere with family oriented, tax paying, economically responsible adult decisions.

Regardless of the outcome I would be interested in a rematch with BBoruD after this debate is over.

In a way, I agree with Pro, that 18 should not be the voting age, but that is because I think the right to vote should not be based on age, but on actual knowledge.
