This is a war debate, and is a direct challenge to lannan13.

lannan, tell me what country you will represent, what your WMD will be (refer to the below list). I am Russia.

There are some strict rules that apply:

1. When you accept the debate, state your country, and state the numbers of your armed forces (aircraft, men, ships, etc.). Use this source for military numbers ONLY, as it is the most reliable:http://www.globalfirepower.com...

2. Each country's turn can range from about 3 days to 45 days, so please take in consideration of how much you do in a turn, make it reasonable. (DO NOT try to win in one turn! Take into account that your opponent is also a living, thinking being that can adapt to a situation.)

3. Morale is a key factor in your armed forces' effectiveness.

4. You may produce more military forces (soldiers, ships, aircraft, tanks/humvees/cavalry), but it depends on your military budget, your country's population, and how industrialized your nation is.

5. You may choose to invade or defend.

6. The defender makes the first move.

7. The defender's primary military objective is to remove the attacker's forces from the defender's territory. The attacker's primary military objective is to annex the other country, or destroy it (physically, economically, &etc). Secondary military objectives can be made by the debaters if they wish. Fulfilment of the military objectives is victory. If either side fails to fulfil their set objectives, the voters are free to reasonably determine the winner based off of who was more successful in completeing their objectives.

8. If a nation's capital is destroyed/liberated, this does not necessarily mean that the war is won; the capital could be recaptured.

If one of the debaters destroys or controls the administration of the opposing country, OR if the opposing country is destroyed to the point of no administration, then that debater automatically wins the war.

9. Every aspect of the war must be realistic and must remain within the parameters established by the rules and the title. Any unrealistic action and actions deviating from the rules will cause the entire action to be void. Any further deviation after the first void action will result in a complete debate forfeiture.

10. You can have ONLY ONE WMD (Chooses WMD). WMD is to be used as a last resort. It can only be used if there is an extreme threat to the nation or your army. IF a WMD is to be used, you MUST fully describe the effects of its' use IN DETAIL. Every aspect of the WMD's effects MUST be correct and realistic.

Any unrealistic detail in the effects will cause the use of the weapon and ALL of its' effects to become void, and there will be no "restocking" of the WMD. Once you use it, you used it, whether or not the effects are void. At the beginning of the "war," you MUST specify what country you are, what WMD you will use (and describing the weapon using the below rules in the weapons' list), and you must show what the entirety of your armed forces is made of (soldier count, tanks, artillery, ships, aircraft, etc.).

Specify what your WMD is going to be. Specify ALL measurements of the WMD (yield, range, parts-per-million, altitude, longitude, latitude, etc).

You may choose ONE weapon from the following list of WMDs:

- Nuclear Weapon: The blast yield must be 209.2 billion kilojoules (50 kilotons of TNT) or LESS. You MUSTspecify type of detonation (underground/collapse, ground/shock, airburst/dust).
You MUST specify location of detonation (longitude, latitude, altitude. Also name country, province/state, and city of detonation).

- Chemical: Maximum 15 parts-per-million. Specify chemical type. Anthrax and all nerve agents ARE allowed, but only one can be used.

- Radiological: Specify and describe the used radioactive material at the beginning of the war. MUST specify location of detonation (longitude, latitude, altitude. Also name country, province/state, and city of detonation) and the method of delivery. Only in small quantity (yet unspecified). CANNOT be directed at civilian targets.

- MOAB/FOAB: Must be used in the unconventional manner. If an MOAB/FOAB is detonated above ground and at an altitude, it has the effects of a tactical nuclear weapon (thus classifying it as a WMD) without the radiation.MUST specify location of the detonation (longitude, latitude, altitude. Also name country, province/state, and city of detonation).

NO BIOLOGICAL WEAPONS ARE ALLOWED.

11. No allies (NATO, UN, Muslim Brotherhood, or otherwise) under ANY circumstances. Annexation of other countries or agreements that allow formations of larger nations and/or direct military intervention is NOT allowed. Personnel and forces CANNOT be supplied by other nations.

You CAN have military or diplomatic agreements and/or treaties with other nations (agreements not to interfere, &etc). Radical groups, et cetera are NOT allowed.

Religion is NOT a factor. No economic sanctions from any other nation, but economic warfare is allowed.

12. Cyberwarfare is allowed. Electronic warfare is limited to radar/radio jamming and interception; NO EMPs.

13. The country chosen must be one of the 206 sovereign states recognized by the United Nations as of 2015. Former states such as the USSR are not accepted, nor are territory-controlling factions not officially recognized by the United Nations, such as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, currently the Islamic State), and Gaza Strip, controlled by Hamas, but recognized by the UN as a part of Palestine.

14 (Code of Conduct Part A). Appropriate conduct MUST be maintained: no insults, cursing, profanity, vulgar language or trolling. Any violation of appropriate conduct WILL BE REPORTED to DDO authorities.

15 (Code of Conduct Part B). By the second code of conduct, we must provide our war-debate victory-percentage in the beginning of such debates.

16. If you fail to follow the rules once, you will be given a warning and your actions in that round will be void. Further disobedience of ANY of these rules WILL result in an immediate loss of the debate.

17. The Instigator must always take the Pro side of the debate.

18. These debates are strictly Force versus Force; no civilian action is allowed unless Total War is declared.

19. Total War is allowed ONLY AFTER the use of WMDs.

20. All scenarios MUST be realistic; there MUST be an established reason for conflict.

21. These debates are strictly Force versus Force; no civilian action is allowed unless Total War is declared.

22. If you fail to follow the rules once, you will be given a warning and your actions in that round will be void. Further disobedience of ANY of these rules WILL result in an immediate loss of the debate.

July 17, 2017 Moscow, Russia
Oleg Nickoly'ch Alekseyev, Chairman of the SVR, was on his way to Lubyanka Square in his black Mercedes S600. A routine Monday morning, he thought. At least I will be home by 6p.m. Just in time to change for the conference at the Chinese Embassy. Why can't things be interesting, for-

He never finished the thought, nor did he feel the heat and the pressure wave of the bomb.

The Russian police arrived 5 minutes later, but 6 minutes too late.

Gun fire erupted from the center of the square. The police returned fire, and successfully neutralized the terrorists. But they were horrified to find the 3 of their comrades had fallen,

Gun fire erupted again, this time from the west. The police turned to find 25 men dressed in black and armed with assault rifles - firing into the gathered civilian crowd. A firefight began, and after 13 minutes, 7 policemen, 25 attackers, and 463 civilians were killed.

Reports of similar attacks arose from other parts of the city.

One of the many satellite dishes atop the U.S Embassy detected the police radio chatter (not to mention the gunfire). One of the Russian linguists in the Communications Department listened to and translated the signal. "Better bump this upstairs."

July 17, 2017 Fort Meade, Virginia
Information and Language Analyst Charles Miller received the signal, unknowingly quoted the Russian Linguist, and performed the same action, but the cable went to a different destination: the 7th floor of the CIA Old Headquarters Building.

July 17, 2017 Moscow, Russia
By noon, Moscow Time, it was estimated that over 5000 civilians and 320 police officers had been killed, but more attacks had been reported. The attack on the airport was, by far, the worst. Throughout the airport, armed men emerged and killed any civilians in their sight. The police arrived - again, 5 minutes later, but 6 minutes too late - and began fighting with the insurgents.

At 12:07, the Russian President locks down Moscow. All vehicles on the roadways are instructed to pull over via the local radio network. It is then reported that any vehicle seen moving will be fired upon by the police. When the was sent out, half of the over one thousand of garbage trucks in Moscow began moving throughout the streets of Moscow. They drew fire, but due to the thick metal body, the bullets had little or no effect. The garbage trucks converged on the Kremlin Outer Wall... And crashed through. The men in the trucks drove up to the nearest building to them, crashed through the walls, and detonated the 5000 pounds of C4 each truck carried. The trucks were not the ordinary Russian trucks found in Moscow; These were a little different... American flags were hanging on the sides.

When the fire department and the police arrived at the Kremlin, they found that one of the American flags fell off of one of the trucks... And it was duly reported.

The Federation of Russia was a victim of a massive terrorist attack that nearly decapitated the Russian government. The blood of over 7000 civilians, 300 Russian government officials, and 500 police officers has been spilled... All at the Americans hands.

July 19, 2017 Moscow, Russia
A new President is appointed in Russia, as well as a Presidential Cabinet. At 8:00 a.m, the new Russian President orders an immediate increase of alertness in the military, FSB, and the reconstructed SVR, and orders the selling of all American stocks and gold reserves. This gives Russia $537,600,000,000 to spend on defensive measure. The Russian President expects an American response to this economic move, as the American economy will certainly enter a recession because of this move.

Russia then ceases all exports to America.

The President orders a drafting and training of 15,000,000 men in the event of an attack from America.

The Russian President initiates a revamping of the Russian ASAT systems in the event that orbital and ballistic missiles are used. It is estimated that it will be fully operational in 2 days.

The total 18,251,000 soldiers are divided along the West and East Coasts.

All Tanks (15,500); AFVs (27,607); SPGs (5,990); Towed Artillery (4,625); and MLRSs (3,781) are split between both coasts.

The Russian navy is evenly split in the West (Atlantic) and East (Pacific).

The entire Russian Airforce is activated, and 1/2 of each class of aircraft is in the air constantly. This 1/2 is divided amongst the East and West.

4 RORSAT (Radar Ocean Reconnaissance SATellite), 3 KH-12-type photo-imagery real-time satellites, and 5 "killer" satellites are launched into a geostationary orbit.

Mine- and sonobouy-fields are set 1 mile away from both coasts, and are 5 km in width, 1200 miles in length, maximum 6 miles in depth (depending on how deep the ocean is). Both fields consist of active and passive sonobouys, and over 20,000 mines are randomly set in each field.

TOTAL FORCES DIVISION:

West: 9,200,000 troops; 8,500 tanks; 13,300 AFVs; 2,750 SPGs; 2,325 Towed Artillery; 2,000 MLRSs; 177 ships (aircraft carrier); 770 aircraft; 10 Beriev A-100 AWACS-type aircraft; and 3 killers, 1 KH-12, 2 RORSATs.

East: 9,051,000 troops; 7,000 tanks; 14,307 AFVs; 3,240 SPGs; 2,300 Towed Artillery; 1,781 MLRSs; 175 ships; 771 aircraft; 10 Beriev A-100 AWACS-type aircraft; and 2 killers, 2 KH-12s, 2 RORSATs.

Con

Okay let's get to the good part, since my opponent only used a few days so should I. I would like to note that since my opponent stated that we cannot use religion then his attack on a Kremlin (Orthadox Catholic Church, was against the rules).

Day 1
The President requests that Congress declares war against the Russian federation as a state of war already exists. He also demands that nearly immidiate action is taken. It passes both the Houses and the President Signs it. That day 259 Naval ships with 14 Air craft carriers take off towards Russia from the Atlantic. With 1,000,000 troops and landing material to accompany it. They also send 6,048 air craft with the attack force.

The Pacific Force is mobalized with 400,000 troops, 102 Naval ships, 2 air craft carriers and 3,012 air craft with that Pacific Attack force.

Troops in Korea and Japan are put on high alert for Russian forces.

Economic Warfare

US legislators and banking system freezes key Russian assets. In response the Russian Federation dumps the US dollar reserve. The already fragile Russian economy that is expierencing a 5% GDP shrink starts to see inflation start to double its rate of the ruple from 15% to 30% and increasing. Russian and European stocks begin to fall as Russia's pledge to stop all exports to the US and other political allies. (http://money.cnn.com...) Asset freeze also hurts Russian big buisness concidering that all their money was tied up in dollars and now their largest private industries such as steel, telecom, oil groups, and other organizations are now going under causing massive unemployment and inflation soars from 30% to a whoping 125%! (http://www.forbes.com...) US oil production excells as other European nations began to by more from the US as gas prices continue to stay low.

s://sg.morningstar.com...(en).png" alt="" />
Russia passes Court Law and seizes all foreign assets in Russia. In response this causes massive blowback to the Russian economy as nearly 30 million Euro leaves the Russian circulation and inflation ballons. (http://www.zerohedge.com...)

Day 6

US fleet has entered Baltac Sea and begins a small Airial attack upon St. Pettersburg and surrounding air fields under the cover of the night. This was furthered by covert Radar Jamming via content loopage. It wasn't until it was too late that the Russians had discovered that there was something wrong. US begins using a bombardment of tomahawk missiles and cruise missiles similiar to the first day of Operation Iraqi Freedom. (http://fpc.state.gov...) These missiles target key infrastructure and while the tomahawks target military targets. Upon these targets are nuclear facilities of Leingrad/Leingrad II, Kola, and Kaliningrad. The missiles are all hits except for the one attacking Kola which are shot down. Troops begin landing process in St. Petersburg with airial coverage of the battle carpet bombing the city and surrounding areas creating a 25 mile safe zone around the city upon landing.

US on the Pacific mirrors that of the one on the Baltac. Except this one destroys Primorski and the US lands in Anandy.

Cyberwarfare

US NSA launches an attack against the Russian Federation via cyberattacks. NSA targets major power producing companies Inter RAO, Rosatom, and TGC-1 for the attacks and shut down these power organizations through long streams of cyberattacks and the deletion of all cyberdefense that the companies have via installing several deadly Trojans and thousands of viruses stream into the system after the Trojans have effectively deleted the firewall. 99% of Russia is now without power as all nuclear power plant cooling systems are shut down and will thus over heat, oil plants are shut down, and hydroelectric plants are down. After the span of 3 months the economy is expected to looses hundreds of trillions of dollars and the population is expected to drop dramatically. (http://sherryhewins.hubpages.com...)
Debate Round No. 3
The-Voice-of-Truth

Pro

Thank you, lannan, for a fairly quick argument. Please wait to post; I will be back Monday.

Other than troops numbers, I used one source: Prior Knowledge.

Counter-Measures:
1. How were you able to 6,092 aircraft on only 14 Carriers and 3,012 aircraft on 2 Carriers; and 1,000,000 troops and 400,000 troops with the fleets? Carriers can only carry a maximum of about 50 aircraft, depending on the various types of aircraft present, and there is no way you could get that many troops to Russia with your fleet and your entire merchant strength combined, as you have no amphibs and only 393 merchants.

2. In response to your economic measures, the U.S is already experiencing a fall in their economy, too. When Russia sold all U.S stocks and gold reserves, realistically, other nations would dump their U.S securities due to the decrease in stock values. The U.S economy had already entered an immediate and major recession, as I stated last round. So, while our economy is in decline, so is yours my friend. Russia did not cease exports to American political allies, just America, so the effects of that don't exist for that reason. Now, those effects do exist due to the U.S and Russian economy being in a state of recession. Because of this, the European and Asian economies naturally begin to decline. As for the asset freeze, that can't hurt big Russia, as I already sold all American stock. There is, realistically, a global economic crisis.

3. Your navy made it into the Baltic Sea.... How did you avoid my mine/sonobouy fields and my navy? Honestly, you would be lucky to make it through one of the fields with half of your fleet, and that is not including naval engagements.

4. Your aircraft being able to strike St. Petersburg and the surrounding airfields is not as easy as you made it seem. The Russians would have been alerted, even at night, because I have 6 radar and photo-imagery satellites and 10 AWACS aircraft; the Russians would have spotted you, day or night, when you were still near Copenhagen. And your aircraft would not have had easy-pickings; I have 2750 SPGs along the coast and in the immediate areas, and guess what, SAMs (Surface-to-Air-Missiles) are considered SPGs. These SAMs would have shot down a great number of your aircraft, not to mention heavy resistance from Russian aircraft. One last thing: your attack vector was focused on such a small point. This would have been a turkey shoot for my AAs and SAMs. Your safe-zone might be able to exist only after you lost over 3/4 of your invading force and all of your aircraft.

5. Since you mirrored this action in the Pacific, the same counter-measures apply, even the small Threat Vector Area.

6. Your cyber attack is somewhat unrealistic. You vastly underestimated the effectiveness of the Russian cyberwarfare community, which is second to China. The U.S would have had an extremely difficult time attacking Russia this way (if it were to succeed at all), and Russia would have noticed and launched their own attack. I will grant you the Russian powergird being fried, but nothing like the Russian Government services (SVR, FSB, GRU, etc). I will begin a cyber-operation of my own; it will be swift. This is because, in growing cyberwarfare communities, America was "left in the dust" by China and Russia, and is trying to play catch-up; America's defense measures are not as complex and sophisticated.

7. Attacking only 2 cities and then not moving any farther was not the best move for you, and you will soon see why.

Continuing the War:
Before the above events occurred, the Russian President used $2,600,000,000 of it's $60,400,000,000 defense budget to draft 20,000,000 more men ($100,000 each), make 5,000 more tanks ($1,000,000), and 1,000 SPGs ($1,000,000 each).

June 26, 2017
With the death of civilians due to the cyberattack and attacks on St. Petersburg and Anandy (I cannot find Anandy on any map/map program I have), literal mobs civilians are willing to join the Russian military. Over 100,000 Russian Nationals volunteer for the military after the news about the attacks spread.

Continuous naval engagements between American and Russia fleets ensue throughout the Baltic Sea and the Pacific Ocean. The majority of both U.S and Russian fleets are destroyed. The Russian submarines (which were pulled back out of combat) in the Barents and Kara seas are loaded with Trident Ballistic Missiles with anti-ship-and-building ballistic missile warheads. Upon detection of the U.S fleet, individual contacts for each of the 2460 warheads are established, which includes speed, depth, range, sonar classification, and sonar signature. These subs, upon the given order, launch all missiles. Now, once these missiles are launched, there is no effective way to combat them, as they are high-orbit missiles with a 15-minute flight-time; they are too fast for effective ASAT missile use. Your under 473 ships each have 7-8 warheads assigned, so, whether or not you can launch some ASATs, all your ships will still be destroyed; your aircraft have nowhere to land.

Russian SVR/FSB technicians detect the attempted cyber attack. Russian defense measures are the "cream of the crop" of cyberwarfare; they are equal with China's. These measures effectively fight off over 1/2 of the American attack, while the remainder of the attack continues in an attempt to gain system break-through. Russian SVR offensive cyber-technicians then launch their own cyberwarfare-campaign. America's cyberwarfare defense measures are not as effective as Russia's, but still are a force to be reckoned with. The Russian offensive technicians are able to penetrate over 75% of all American systems via the use of worms, RATs, spam, Trojans, and malignant computer viruses. The Russians focus 1/4 of their assets on the DoD, effectively breaking their systems. This leads to the immediate infection of modems in Miami, Atlanta, Memphis, Las Vega, Las Angeles, Denver, Chicago, New York, and Boise. These modems lead to sub-modems, which lead to other sub-modems, which lead to internet providers, which lead to individual platforms, which lead to programs and interfaces.

Many of these platforms are nuclear reactors and extensions of the main powergrid in America. Since these platforms are penetrated by Russia, Russia has control of all nuclear reactor- and power-systems. The offensive technicians then implement actions that they had been thoroughly briefed on and practiced many times: the cooling and venting systems in the over 100 reactors in America are shut-down and the power output systems are overridden, and then increased to critical levels. The technicians then override the electrical systems, rendering human fail-safe systems useless. The reactors reach critical and enter meltdown. The reactor cores all throughout America overheat and reach an excited state... and then erupt in low-kiloton-yield (10 kilotons) nuclear explosions. The electrical grids are then promptly shut-down; and America no longer has electricity.

Russia, since it has penetrated the DoD, begins attacking the few remaining weakened military and intelligence platforms; mainly ONI, CIA, NSA, DIA, and Army Intelligence stations that were not fully affected by the Blackout. Russian assets effectively destroy these weakened platforms, but not without difficulty, as these are the most advanced systems in America's defense.

Afterwards, Russia launches ASAT missiles from Mig-31 fixed-wing fighters at American communications, radar, and photo-imagery satellites. The missiles are then aided by Russian ASAT "Blinding Lasers". Satellites are practically defenseless besides for maneuverability, but that does not help when heat-seeking ASAT missiles are locked on. Russia effectively destroys all American satellites that pose or are capable of posing a threat to Russian military operations.

Russia activates all aircraft, and outfits all trainer aircraft with PGMs (Precision-Guided Munitions), 2 AGM missiles, 2 AMRAAM missiles, and 2 anti-infantry cluster/scatter bombs. 1/2 of all aircraft are scrambled to the East Threat Vector (EVT) and the other 1/2 to the Wast Threat Vector (WVT) to begin aiding an offensive push operation against the invading U.S forces. 50 Su-35 air-superiority aircraft (split evenly: 25 EVT, 25 WVT) begin high-freq and high-power U.S radar/radio-jamming operations.

With 3429 aircraft, 20398 tanks, 6972 SPGs, 31298 AFVs, 3793 MLRSs, 4625 Artillery, 12 satellites, and over 37,000,000 troops (all divided as evenly as possible between Threat Vectors) in combat for the defense of Russia and the expulsion of the U.S, America will have an awfully hard time pushing into Russia.

July 28, 2017
2 days after the attack on St. Petersburg, all Russian assets in the area (4,000,000 troops; 1,000 tanks; 300 MLRSs; 200 SPGs; 2,130 AFVs; 182 artillery, and 400 aircraft) are loaded for bear and then converge on the American FOB.

The Americans, as there are no satellites in orbit and no AWACS airborne (as my opponent has not launched any), are truly caught off-guard. The Russians attack the out-numbered forces aggressively and mercilessly, firing barrage after barrage into the embattled city of St. Petersburg; the once-beautiful city that was the Crown Jewel of Russian architecture. The entire tank division mounts a blitz-style attack directly after the artillery barrages, moving at a speed of 96 km/h, as the governors were removed. The tanks entered the city even before the smoke of the last barrage cleared, surprising the Americans. The T-90 MBTs ravaged any opposition they met, crushing everything in their path. The tanks' push was also accompanied by aircraft bombing, more artillery barrages, and all AFVs and infantry. By nightfall, the Reclamation of St. Petersburg is won.

Forces of near equal strength and numbers march on Anandy with much the same tactics: merciless barrages followed by tanks, then aircraft, more barrages, then AFVs and infantry. The outcome is much the same.

The Americans are pushed out of Russia.

*Moderator update*

kingkd's vote has passed review. It was reported because Pro asked debaters not to award conduct for the forfeit. Pro, however, does not get to control what judges do. Forfeits are legitimate reasons for awarding conduct. I've said the same thing on other debates. The user who has reported this is in danger of having his reports taken with a huge grain of salt in the future if he keeps reporting the same vote over and over again.

Yeah, I guess we could. I don't have much time right now, but maybe later. :)

Yeah, I loved that when I read that. I was disappointed when you ruled out religion, because I was going to do something with the Orthadox Church to increase the fun. Prehaps we can do another one that is not a debate. In a PM or something like that.

I wasn't focused and a few personal issues came up to where I couldn't debate.

Thanks guys.

Lannan, thanks for doing this debate with me; I had fun. You actually scared me, and I began scrambling to come up with something. I finally pulled myself together and began to think clearly.

Reasons for voting decision: Pro had an overall better defense. There's one problem, however. Russia cannot sustain that much troops at once. They are hardly sustaining 400,000 in Ukraine right now. However, it doesn't really matter since Con tried to attack Russia and failed to do so because Pro's counter-measures turned those attacks into nothing whatsoever. Both economies had huge downfalls. So the USA barely even scratched Russia. The defense overall was too much for Con.
