I would like to thank the nickjack and all voters for this debate. Walmart does not depend on the U.S. The U.S depends on Walmart. Walmart is good for the U.S because it has cheap prices which is good for the U.S economy. That is why the U.S economy needs it. It lets poor people buy from Walmart creating better bussiness for Walmart and better economy for the U.S.

Yes, it may destroy small bussinesses in town but they can work at Walmart earn more money and then buy from Walmart. When they had there own small bussinesses they may not have earned as much as Walmart may not have food to eat that is affordable too. When Walmart wasn't here nothing was good but when walmart came 2 advantedges came.

Walmart offers jobs. Nothing is more inportant in this economy crisis than getting jobs and thats what Walmart does. iIn this ecomy crisis most people don't have any job at all. But walmart does. Walmart is offering you a job to keep you surviving. Do you want to die of hunger or hydration or not. If you don't vote for me, if you do vote for the opposing team.

If you want to save lives from hunger and hydration helps small bussinesses and also help the U.S economy then vote for the proposition side of this debate.

Thank you

Thank you deatheater for responding.

I would like to start off by refuting some of my opponents points.

"I would like to thank the nickjack and all voters for this debate. Walmart does not depend on the U.S. The U.S depends on Walmart. Walmart is good for the U.S because it has cheap prices which is good for the U.S economy. That is why the U.S economy needs it. It lets poor people buy from Walmart creating better bussiness for Walmart and better economy for the U.S." The opponent stated that Wal-Mart is beneficial because of lower prices for the poor. Wal-Mart, in fact, has almost the same prices as other stores such as Target but Wal-Mart does not give its workers health care benefits. In fact it even ENCOURAGES workers to seek government welfare benefits. [1]

"Walmart offers jobs. Nothing is more inportant in this economy crisis than getting jobs and thats what Walmart does. iIn this ecomy crisis most people don't have any job at all. But walmart does. Walmart is offering you a job to keep you surviving. Do you want to die of hunger or hydration or not. If you don't vote for me, if you do vote for the opposing team." First of all, this argument doesn't make much sense. Wal-Mart is paying most of their workers around the minimum wage. Yes, it may offer a few hundred jobs for each store it creates but think about the hundreds of thousands of jobs that were transported to China for cheaper labor of manufactured goods. You said Wal-Mart is helping the economy. Sending these many jobs oversees is not helping the economy!

Now I would like to state my arguments.

1. Wal-Mart is consistently having legal issues.
Wal-Mart has a history of being sexist. Women have usually been paid lower or given the lower wage jobs [2]. Lawyers have filed a class action lawsuit on behalf of 700,000 women working at 3,000 Wal-Mart stores. The US was founded on equality. Wal-Mart cannot be beneficial to the US if they are ignoring the very rights that the US was founded on.

2. Wal-Mart does not provide health care benefits to most
Even on Wal-Mart's OWN website. It shows the benefits of having health care but it does not say how to get that health care. Only 53% of Wal-Mart workers receive health care from Wal-Mart's money. The rest of the workers receive health care. But who pays for it? The taxpayers! Wal-Mart earns $268 billion in sales but it costs the taxpayers over $1.4 billion that Wal-Mart could have easily paid for itself.

3. Wal-Mart sent jobs oversees
Originally, Wal-Mart received most of its goods from US manufacturing companies. Currently, Wal-Mart buys $15 billion worth of goods from China. Wal-Mart cut thousands of jobs from the US to get cheaper labor and more profit. Their "Made in America" campaign used to be true. Now it means nothing. It is a plain lie. Most of its goods are made in other countries. How is this made in America?

In conclusion, Wal-Mart is not beneficial to the US. It is the exact opposite. By sending jobs overseas it hurts the economy. By encouraging workers to seek government benefits, it is costing American taxpayers much more than they should be paying. By being sexist to women workers, Wal-Mart is destroying the values that the America was built on. Wal-Mart cannot be beneficial to the US.

Thank you nickjack and all voters once again for successful debate.

The opposing team said that Wal-Mart has same prices then target and other prices, and dosen't have any health care benefits. First of all health care dosen't usually come with any store workers but only high positions like the headquarters get benefits.

Second of all Wal-Mart has bigger bussiness and more famous than target. Also your completely right Target has the same prices than Wal-Mart. Great, the topic we are debating now is "Is walmart good for America?" not "Which store has better prices, Wal-Mart or Target?"

The opposing team also said Walmart is paying minimum wage and its not helping the economy. True its paying minimum wage. That is completely true. But think about it the workers at Walmart usually didn't have any job at first, when they come to Wal-Mart at least its a job. Think about no money to little money that is still a big difference in todays economy because 1 cent is whole new thing.

The opposition side had said they are sending workers to china. That possibly could be true, but thats also helping other countries now Wal-Mart also has stores in the U.S now its starting to help other countries and the U.S which is even better. And now the whole U.S is being influenced under Walmart because of its chinese influence. If china has a Wal-Mart then that means world wide which means bigger bussiness and more money for Wal-Mart and the American economy.

The American Economy is growing, its creating jobs and affordable prices for family. Do you want to buy something but you can't afford. Are your parents under pressure because of no jobs for the family and do you truly want to help the American Economy where your friends and family live, if you do vote for the pro side of Walmart is beneficial to the US.

Thank you voters and NickJack my opponent

I have sent a message to my opponent stating that we will skip the last two rounds because three is enough.

I will start by refuting my opponent's points.

"The opposing team said that Wal-Mart has same prices then target and other prices, and dosen't have any health care benefits. First of all health care dosen't usually come with any store workers but only high positions like the headquarters get benefits." While this may be true, Wal-Mart is the only chain that encourages their workers to seek government benefits. This is costing American taxpayers $1.4 billion dollars that Wal-Mart could have paid itself.

"Second of all Wal-Mart has bigger bussiness and more famous than target. Also your completely right Target has the same prices than Wal-Mart. Great, the topic we are debating now is "Is walmart good for America?" not "Which store has better prices, Wal-Mart or Target?"" My point is simply offering a solution for those who are wondering if there is any alternative than Wal-Mart. You also stated that Wal-Mart has bigger business. This is true but only because the workers are underpaid and do not recieve the benefits that most workers should have.

"The opposing team also said Walmart is paying minimum wage and its not helping the economy. True its paying minimum wage. That is completely true. But think about it the workers at Walmart usually didn't have any job at first, when they come to Wal-Mart at least its a job. Think about no money to little money that is still a big difference in todays economy because 1 cent is whole new thing." A few hundred now have a job when a new Wal-Mart is opened. But HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of workers are now unemployed because Wal-Mart sent their manufactured goods job oversees (mainly to China). Think of 600 vs. hundreds of thousands.

"The opposition side had said they are sending workers to china. That possibly could be true, but thats also helping other countries now Wal-Mart also has stores in the U.S now its starting to help other countries and the U.S which is even better. And now the whole U.S is being influenced under Walmart because of its chinese influence. If china has a Wal-Mart then that means world wide which means bigger bussiness and more money for Wal-Mart and the American economy." You are assuming things that (being frank), should not be assumed. Wal-Mart IS sending jobs to China and this is HURTING the US economy.

Wal-Mart is not beneficial to the US. It is sexist, does not have health care benefits and is sending jobs to China. Is this really beneficial to the US. Vote for the con side for this debate.

Nickjack, just out of curiosity, how does a 17 year old become anti-Walmart? Something at school? Where did you get your economical education?
