marijuana is a "drug" that more or less all of the population in England, Holland, France, America have tried at least once. however people find it a big problem? why should weed no be legalised? i would love to hear someone opinions.

Marijuana is a drug that leads to lots of physical and mental problems and also puts people down the wrong path in life.

First, Marijuana has lots of immediate and long term side effects. Some immediate side effects are impaired thinking and coordination. This could lead to many things like car crashes and other accidents. (1) (2)
Some long term effects of marijuana are loss of IQ points, cancers of the throat and lungs, a weakened immune system and heart disease. (1)(2) These are all very serious matters that we would be exposing our citizens to.

Additionally, marijuana IS a gateway drug. One statistic that will scare you is that 60% of people that experiment with marijuana before the age of 15 move on to harder drugs, such as cocaine and heroin. (2)
Although you may not agree that marijuana is bad for peoples' bodies, you HAVE to agree that cocaine and heroin are.

Making marijuana legal will make it easier for children to get their hands on it, and possibly move onto cocaine and heroin, and that's not worth the risk.
So like I have said, the amount of problems with marijuana outweigh the solutions that it poses.

first of all you mention that marijuana has alot of side effects which are short term and long term. however research states that marijuana has never killed anyone, this is from overdosing and from behaviour whilst on the substance(1).
your second point is that marijuana lowers the IQ of people. this is not 100% true, there have been cases however where people have began to slacked off due to the substance. this is not true however for everyone. some people need the relax first before they can begin to work.
i do agree with you that at this moment in time marijuana is a gateway drug. however this is because they are put into a category of illegal drugs, this would not be the case if it was legal. there are already people saying that this substance is not a gateway drug (2) legalising his would make it out of this category.
If you think how people get marijuana it is all from drug dealers that grow it themselves to make money, if the drug was legal however they would be out of the business making less sales to minors. they have even said that kids in america find it easier to buy weed than it is to buy beer (3)

We should debate again... I only had a half hour to write an argument and I was busy.

I'd love to finish this up.

I can't vote because I haven't completed 3 debates, but I think that michaelperry13 totally won. I know you probably won't, but could someone vote for me?

Reasons for voting decision: Con had awful grammar. "why should weed no be legalised?" Really? You couldn't have taken an extra second to capitalize the 'w' and add a 't'? Neither of you made very convincing arguments. I think it was the way you wrote it. Pro gets the points for sources because Con used Ask.com, which is a site you should never use to get facts from.

Reasons for voting decision: Normally I wouldn't up-vote dual-concession. Nonetheless, Con adequately refuted Pro's arguments in round 2.
