I saw in your Big Issues that you oppose welfare. Why is that?

I do not oppose the idea of giving to those on need. What I DO oppose is the fact that the Welfare System is so corrupt and underegulated that virtually anyone who files for it under unemployment will receive it, and rarely if ever will they be forced to find a job. We are essentially promoting taking money from the government and letting tax pay for all the lazy bums who don't want work. I don't want to do away with welfare, merely rather than spend SO much money in the welfare itself, spend it on regulations of the system to ensure only those who medically NEED the Welfare will be allowed to live off of it.

Before I start I'd like to say that most of my sources are in danish, and I realize how that can be confusing, however I ensure they are legit.

That is not true at all. Take a look at some of the most functional welfare societies in the world.

In Denmark there is a system we call 'Dagpenge", this is the system anyone can apply for when finding themselves either unemployed or working half-time for some reason. (source: http://www.3f.dk...
How much money you get is determined by how much you've earned for the past three months. It is somewhat 2/3 of that (source: http://www.3f.dk... )

There are a few basic rules if you wanna enter this system. The most important rule is that you are available to work, and therefore they demand you sign up on a danish job site ( www.jobindex.dk ), they demand that you register for job interviews regularly, and that you actually show up for them. They EXPECT that you take any job you are offered, the only one's you are allowed to deny if you wanna be in the system is if the transportation will take more than three hours a day with public transportation. Also you have to be available to start the job the next day if the employer expects that of you.
(source: http://www.3f.dk...)

If these criteria are not fulfilled you lose the money.

If you get a job after having used up your two year, it will take you several years in the job market before you are eligible to enter again.

So yes, there is a chance that a welfare system will pay for 'lazy bums', however there are SEVERAL ways to ensure that does not happen. The Scandinavian welfare society is not corrupt, it is one of the most well functioning societies on earth, studies who people are happiest here, people live the longest here and the class distinction is almost non-existent.

Here is a happiness survey: http://www.huffingtonpost.com...

Here is a survey showing the low class distinction in Denmark: http://www.nationsencyclopedia.com...

List of life expectancy: https://en.wikipedia.org...
NOTICE: that there are several countries sharing the same spot.

Notice how Iceland, Norway and Denmark are in the top 4, Finland is number 6 and Sweden number 7.
Here is an article saying how 12 of the 13 most wealthiest countries are social democracies, or in other words welfare states: https://robertlindsay.wordpress.com...

Regarding that we should rather ensure medical need, all Scandinavian countries, Iceland as well give free quality healthcare to every citizen. You are not expected to pay more than about 350 dollars a year for your medicine, if it costs more than that the government pays the difference.
