I thought this would be fun to argue about but nothing serious. I thought everyone could use a smile.

Con

I accept this debate and thank you Pro for starting it. Pro did not establish which side of the debate he was taking so I will take the egg. I say the egg came before the chicken. I will only take this round to accept the debate and announce which side of the coin I choose. I think we can keep it casual and use common sense meanings. I await patiently for Pros response.

There is nothing better than a good ol' argument. Thank you for accepting. But i must say that without the chicken where the egg have come from? The egg would have never existed without the chicken.
AbnerGrimm

Con

Thank you Pro for your quick reply. Pro asserts that the chicken must have come first to lay the egg. This seems like a reasonable point of view the only problem is there had to be a species before the chicken who produced the chicken. Therefore, that species brought forth the egg which produced the first chicken and making the egg before the chicken.

To better understand this question we could formulate it as: "ChickenX that can't come without the eggY, or the eggY that can't come without the Xchicken?"

Professor John Brookfield and Professor David Papineau argue since there was a "first" chicken, it must have come from an egg which pre-dated that chicken. http://www.cnn.com... Therefore my position seems the most reasonable and even the theory of evolution can be argue that a mutation must have taken place at conception or within an egg such that a creature similar to a chicken, but not a chicken, laid the first chicken eggs.

I think I had validated my positions and turn it back to Pro for his response.

Very good. I have nothing more to say because your proof just defeated my opinion. Thank you con, I guess we all learn something everyday including this! Very interesting to know and thanks again for cooperating. It was a fun topic. You have proof, therefore you win. Congrats.
Good luck with all other debates.
This would have been longer but unlike you I have no proof.
AbnerGrimm

Con

I would like to extend my thanks to Pro and wish him as much luck as humanly possible. From his last round I take his response as a concession. I thank the readers and Pro and ask at vote for Con.

You missed the obvious: which egg are we talking about here?

The egg. Two different species of earlier chicken species mated producing gradually closer and closer to a modern chicken. The egg has to come first though it did take many chicken to get to the curren chicken.
