It has come to my surprise that certain people do not know what came first the chicken or the egg. From a logical standpoint the egg came first because a chicken is not born as a chicken it begins as an egg.

Well obviously something had to lay the egg... A piranha didn't lay the egg, nor did a chimpanzee, but obviously a Chicken. How did they come first? God made them first according to the Holy Bible.

Here we go again another statement bringing god into where facts are needed. Well I have facts like Prior to the first true chicken, there were non-chickens. The DNA changes came about in cells housed in the egg. So the egg came first.

Sourcing the Bible just shows that you don't have evidence to backup your claim other than the Bible To quote Genesis: "And God blessed them, saying, be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the water in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth."

The scientific argument that argues that the egg came first is this: Two different birds made an egg and a chicken came out, hence the egg came first.
Lets say we have 4 birds, Bird A and B, and bird C and D. Lets say bird A and bird B (not chickens) make an egg and bird C and D make an egg together. Now those eggs hatch and chickens come out, and the only way for chickens to repopulate is for those two birds to mate. But that's where the egg argument is flawed. Since the chicken would, by definition if your supporting the egg side of the argument, would be a hybrid, it would have an uneven amount of chromosomes. Lets say bird A has 64 chromosomes and Bird B has 62 chromosomes. The chicken would end up with 63 chromosomes, as would the chicken from bird C and D.
When it's time for the chicken to try to make its own gametes(a mature haploid male or female germ cell that is able to unite with another of the opposite sex in sexual reproduction to form a zygote), the 32 bird A chromosomes don't pair up easily with the 31 bird B chromosomes. So, meiosis fails and no gametes are produced, making the chicken sterile.
If the chickens are sterile, the two chickens from different parents would not be able to reproduce. Even if they had the same parents, they would still be sterile and would not be able to reproduce! Therefore the chicken would have to had to come first for the whole species to survive and repopulate to what it is today.
Due to the fact that the official scientific argument that supports the egg is flawed, the chicken must have came first. Though it may not be all clear to scientist how they came first, they had to have come first or else there would be no chickens!

Allow me to offer my humble opinion on the subject:
Egg comes first, if the definition of a chicken includes being born from an egg.
Chicken comes first, if the first creature close enough to the modern chicken to be called a chicken is not born from an egg.

From a quick internet search, apparently a bird (that wasn't a chicken) layed the egg that somehow turned out to hatch what we now call normal everyday chickens.

this is a never ending topic which is a debate that can go on forever because for some illogical reason everyone forgets about evolution and religion. if one believes in religion then they can pretty much say whatever they want and back it up with what they believe is true because of their religion. if one believes in evolution then the egg came first because something had to lay an egg which when it came open had an entire new species after years of evolution of that particular species which itself came from a different species.

Something obviously evolved into the chicken, which then laid an egg.

Reasons for voting decision: The only thing that "Pro" did was argue against God? It says in the holy bible, which con continued to point out , that animals came to the earth- ALREADY HATCHED. Plus, if the egg came first, how would it have gotten there? Eggs come from chickens, which weren't there yet anyways.
