Hey, what do you think the best race in Skyrim is? Round 1: acceptance Round 2-4: debating.
Best (adj.) of the most excellent, effective, or desirable type or quality

New to this site, figured id start here, so voters, please take it easy on me. I will allow the other person to state their personal favorite first, and which they think is most useful. I in return, will return with my best race. PLEASE, no modded skyrim.

I propose Khajiit as the best race, as they have the best names, are freaking CATS, and have great sneaking and swordsmanship skills. Who doesn't want to be a superior cat race?

I feel the Orcs, (Orismer) are the superior race, mainly as they have unmatched money making potential. Daedric armor, is very valuable, and can be sold for a very high price. As Orcs have the highest beginning smithing stat, they will unlock this perk soonest on average. Also, in combat, they are unmatched in melee, as they have Berserker rage, (x4 combat efficiency), and have very high melee stats. If you become a werewolf, (requires no DLC, vampires require Dawnguard) this will be enhanced even further, as the werewolf, is a superior "tank" form. Vampires, are great for sneaking, and/or assassins.
PLUS, Orcs have pretty epic names too.

Orcs have pretty barbaric names, as Khajiits know they are the superior race as they talk about themselves in third person. Also, Orcs have very little intelligence(compared to Khajiit at least) and would never seek to sell armor as they are solitary and only answer to Malacath.

Orcs have let outsiders travel into their hold on many different circumstances, including Ghorza, who left her stronghold, to be a smith in Markath, you can buy and sell armor from her, for a very fair price. The dragon born, has also been allowed into the Orc stronghold, regardless of his/her race, after a very minor quest. Khajiit, are also generally drug dealers, however, this is not always the case. While khajiit may have superior intellect, (on average) M'aiq the liar, clearly does not, as lying does not get you very far. Khajiit, also, take away Skyrim's native's trading, by taking it as their own. Khajiit also, are renowned thieves, although I haven't seen any in the thieves guild. Orcs, are almost completely crime free, although they do have murder on their hands from time to time. Barbaric names, are very suiting to some people, especially those who prefer "tanking" the enemy, by going in solo.

Khajiits also have the benefit of the doubt, as they are excellent in every class. Theiving, Wizardry, and Combat all fit into their repertoire. They travel all the time, which makes them a nomad. "A nomad is a member of a community of people who live in different locations, moving from one place to another. Among the various ways Nomads relate to their environment, one can distinguish the hunter-gatherer, the pastoral nomad owning livestock, or the "modern" peripatetic nomad." Which makes them adaptable to their environment, so they can live almost anywhere.

They also have traveling wares, which is more convenient than one seller in Markarth and various strongholds. They also sell WAY more items than the Orcs, making them more useful. They may also sell enchanted things too, and, as I recall, Orcs are not the best at magic, much less enchanting.

In conclusion, I believe that Khajiit are the superior race, as they are more versatile than other races, and also can fit in any class, whether it be a Tank ( example: Kharjo, a follower you can get.) Or Wizardry( Jzargo, another follower.)

You win. Honestly, i was gonna choose khajiit, so i had to come up with my second favorite. :D

Duel-wielding Orc FTW. Nothing can touch me and dragons drop in one hit.

I am doing this as every race can fit into each role. A Dark Elf can be a raging tank, or an Orc could be an expert wizard, even though they are not suited for it.

I think they mean as an all round case rather than specific styles. Otherwise it is pretty subjective since you can just train all the skills. The only difference between the classes are the powers/traits/starting stats and nearly all the races powers can be made irrelevant end game... Except for Orcs. Their Berserk power stays relevant and becomes ridiculous at end game. But if one wants to be magic only, well then Orcs aren't particularly great.

LeastCommonDenominator obviously has a thing for Skyrim. As I posted on his armor debate, races are also a case-by-case basis. Dark Elves make great Destruction Mage, they wouldn't make efficient heavily-armored soldiers. Orcs would be great for heavily-armored soldiers, but not great mages. As with the other debate, it all depends on the player.

I can debate two times at once. Here, I will start a different one, but as the most useful armor. That okay for you?

Reasons for voting decision: Conduct - Tie. Both had proper conduct throughout the debate. S&G - Tie. Both had minor spelling and grammar issues, and honestly balance each other out in that regard, thus this remains a tie. Arguments - Pro. This was a really fun debate to read. I'm an orc-man myself so I had to approach this without my bias in mind, which was a difficult but fun challenge. Ultimately, Pro presented arguments which seemed to make Con concede the debate in the final round. Due to Con's concession, Pro rightfully wins this debate. I will applaud Con for conceding rather than forfeiting, it's much more respectable. Sources - Tie. Neither utilized sources in this debate.
