In the future you might be able to vote for the candidate you want and watch the winner for the entire time they lead your country.

Now, anybody of any race and of any gender can take part in the democratic process. Who would have thought that democracy would one day be for all people? The possibilities of technology catching up to politics is the only sign that democracy will be revitalized.

The people would all be able to watch the leader of their country live on their television sets. We would have an entire database of everything the leader of the country did right on our internet.

Unfortunately, this idea of such an open process is idealist at best, harmful at worst. By believing that elections will do so well, we are in fact hurting our chances of realizing that elections are moving towards a more corrupt system than ever before.

Big money funding under the guise of Super PACs mean that politicians only become more and more in the pocket of those with money.

And citizens are given too many choices despite understanding less about what's happening in our world. People get their information from secondary sources, feeding their biases like Jean Baudrillard says. We as a society tune out conflicting opinions and listen to our own echoed to us. Soon no one will know how to truly vote.

So because of this the future of elections is bleak.

I really hope we avoid a time where politics just becomes entertainment. We're already dangerously close right now
