Pro

The fact that us high school kids have to sit for at least 8 hours, and conform to the school leaders idea of being a "good student" , we should be allowed at least 35-45 minutes a day, during school, to go out and enjoy what the Earth has to offer. Your body needs exercise to be able to grow, and blossom appropriately. Therefore, we should all push for free time out of our day to be middle schoolers again.

Con

For the sake of simplicity, sources will not be used in this debate; only logic and reasoning.

Arguments:

Laziness:
School is an institution of learning. The purpose of school is to engage in activities that prepare you for the future, i.e. college, employment and careers. In every single of the aforementioned environments, people are expected to do what is required to succeed in real life. There is no time to be lazy.

This was just a mock one guys, we go to school together and were messing around. That's all.

Ironically, I would be happier knowing that this guy is a troll, rather than a real high school student.

I largely agree with Kasmic's analysis of the debate. Pro's argument is a brief one, but it has everything required for there to be an "argument." It has a link and an impact, thus is a proper offense. Con's argument simply does not link to the resolution. Con must establish how recess --> laziness, the crucial link that is required for there to be any strong impact. I just can't buy the link at all. Both sides merely have bare assertions, but Con's assertion has no link, therefore impact is zero. Essentially, impact calculus would entail that I'd have voted Pro. Pro, don't be so quick to concede -- while others' arguments may seem strong, you never know when you could win. It was a clear Pro win, till Pro conceded.

Don't high schools already have this? You have a built-in lunch period. Are there some schools where you can't go outside? We had an area where you could go outside. All the bad azz people smoked cigarettes there. Also smoked weed when they could.

Reasons for voting decision: Not sure why pro conceded. Both arguments were bare assertions. Pro at least argued that recess has some benefit "Your body needs exercise to be able to grow, and blossom appropriately."While not warranted he listed a benefit. Con never refutes this. Con only argues that laziness is bad. Though never links this to "recess." So I have a bare assertion from pro with benefits that stands and a bare assertion from con that is not linked properly to the topic. Thus pro wins arguments. I would have voted pro had pro not conceded. As such I will not award argument points.
