David(35)..is the best magician i've ever seen..
And Criss Angel(45) is the worst in my list..
Any comments against it?

Before I start my arguments, I'd like to mention that Criss Angel was born on December 19, 1967 making him 40 years old (although age is somewhat irrelevant).

I would first like to start off by defining the word better, as defined by American Heritage Dictionary the definition of better is "More useful, suitable, or desirable"

According to the same source (American Heritage Dictionary) the definition of magician is: "an entertainer who is skilled in producing illusion by sleight of hand, deceptive devices, etc"

Because of this definition, we must look who has a wider fan base and more publicity, and what the true definition of magician is.

1)According to the definition, many of David Blaine's performances are nothing but acts of physical endurance and not illusions. Although he may be a good performer, that is what he is, a performer.

2)In the area of superior magic skills (If we can temporarily let the definition of magician slide so that it may allow David Blaine) it should be noted that Criss Angel is the only magician to win three Merlin's Magician awards, and the holder of the 22nd Louie Award. He holds the world records for longest time submerged underwater (24 hours), the longest body suspension (5 hours, 42 minutes), fastest time to perform the Metamorphosis illusion (under a second) and the fastest straight-jacket escape (2 minutes & 30 seconds). Criss Angel is also the only person to ever be on the cover of both Magic Magazine and Genii magazine, both being some of the highest respected Magic Magazines in the world.
While David Blaine has no such awards, and only one current record (17.7 minutes underwater with a single breath) and to your possible rebuttal of other records, I'd like to mention that this record is the only noted record, all others are just claimed by Blaine himself.

On the side of publicity these are the current statistics:
David Blaine- Criss Angel-
Interviews: 9 Interviews: 11
Articles: 5 Articles: 2
Shows: 20 Shows: 22 (not including his own show) and 27 more for 49 Magazine Covers: 1 Magazine Covers: 2
Shows on Broadway: 0 Shows on Broadway: 1
Published Books: 1 Published Books: 1

In conclusion, I'd like to say that Criss Angel is the only true magician of the two, winning numerous awards by the most respected Magic institutes while David Blaine is nothing but a performer of physical endurance (impressive, but not magic) and has no such awards.

I would also just like to add this video for a bit of fun, it's a video of Criss Angel impersonating David Blaine.

well speaking of Blaine, there is enough proof..to show that he is better than criss angel.
I'm not saying that he is the best magician, all that i can say now is that- He,surely; is better than Angel..

Have you ever noticed that In every Criss' Show, it is shown that the programme is directed by Criss Angel...this itself shows that..the whole thing is a set-up!!!

A magic show is like a reality show..and it is stupid to say that it is directed by someone!

I'm sorry, the other post somewhat messed up the statistics, or at least their appearance.

On the side of publicity these are the current statistics:
Criss Angel-

Shows:22 (not including his own show) and 27 more for 49
Magazine Covers: 2
Shows on Broadway: 1

In your rebuttal you said the following statement:

"I'm not saying that he (Blaine) is the best magician"
This statement seems rather ordinary, except when you compare it to the first statement of the debate, "David(35)..is the best magician i've ever seen". You are switching your statements around, soon enough you might perhaps agree that Criss is better than David.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Have you ever noticed that In every Criss' Show, it is shown that the programme is directed by Criss Angel...this itself shows that..the whole thing is a set-up!!!"

I would now like to mention a television special that Blaine did. This is to contrast to your argument against Criss' show; I must also state that you gave no information that he set anything up, that he only directed the program.
For the television special, Blaine performed the Balducci levitation in front of several different groups of people, and the camera was there to catch their reaction. The method he used for this is the Balducci method. While videotaping these various performances, the producers keyed in on the audience members with the most visual reaction. After the Balducci levitation, the producers of the show had these same people stand by for another taping of the illusion – this time the camera would shoot from behind the audience members to get a clear view of Blaine in action.

The audience members were told that this second performance was to show them how magicians could use wires to levitate. And this is exactly what happened. A small harness and rig (just out of camera view) was set up and Blaine performed a standard wire suspension. What Blaine did was a camera trick – known as a post-production edit. The audience at home watched the second (wire suspension) levitation performance, with the audience reaction of the real levitation edited in. It was said, in the television special, that no strings or wires were used to perform Blaine's levitation.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"A magic show is like a reality show..and it is stupid to say that it is directed by someone!"

For this, I would like to mention that David Blaine was the director and the producer in every one of his T.V shows and Movies (involving magic).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I would like to thank my opponent for allowing me to debate him on this topic, and wish him the best of luck in the rebuttal.

It was not shown on TV that David was the director of his shows..but yes,i do agree that he is the producer of his shows. Criss' acts are insane..and is hard to believe,(like- one time he tried to pass 3000 megawatt of electric current through his body)!!

In the world of illusionists, "mindfreak" is defined as "a modern-day mystifier who utilizes skills beyond the category of magic."

That definition applies perfectly to Criss Angel, who's driven by a single question: "How much force can a human body withstand without serious injury?" The fact that he's still alive after testing this time and time again is remarkable. Luckily for fans of extreme entertainment, he's done all of it in front of a camera!!(and is hard to believe)!

Criss devises personal challenges based on most people's worst fears. Past stunts include dressing in a metal suit and standing under a Tesla coil to simulate being struck by lightning, holing up in a crate next to explosives to feel what's it's like to be blown up, and lighting himself on fire with little protection just to see if he could do it. If you are studying science, you may notice that humans haven't invented material that could store/reflect thousand's of megawatt electricity. The how come a human body pass these much
force through his body? How come Guinness haven't noticed his(Criss') acts?

Levitation is a common act performed by almost all magicians of present. Even a lower primary child knows that the act of levitation is fake. Whether its performed by David or Criss, you need to remember that its a fake stunt.(Even Lord Jesus haven't tried to do so).My point is that levitation is fake act,and one who does it the most is absolutely a fraud.(Remember Criss levitating from one building to the other?..Oh..God.how do you believe this crap? This stuff is practically impossible..and is absolutely fake!)

The Criss Angel show they gave on Wed AE 10/12/2005, They show him being able to predict the lottery numbers that where coming out the next day, live on a radio show .His predictions are on a cassette tape and then taped up and the host signs the tape to later prove it wasn't tampered with. The tape is placed in a large manilla envelope and again signed by the radio host.

This is where you have to watch close. Criss places the tape in the safety box with the manilla envelope folded once and placed on top. The ***RADIO HOSTS SIGNATURE*** is clearly facing ***UP** toward the ceiling.

The box is locked and taken by a security company for safe keeping. The next day when they open the box to see if Criss' prediction came true the manilla envelope is laying on top BUT there is ***NO SIGNATURE***, it is on the other side of the envelope. This envelope is to LARGE to flip around or move in the box. If you get to see this episode again watch for this. Someone was in that box and was careless about how they put the contents back in.Ha ha, someones getting Fired... You also see that the safe box was not flipped over and is the same position as it was in the beginning.

I can't believe someone at the show didn't pick up on this. This is his act and it completely discredits him. This wasn't an illusion act, he "claims" he can make predictions that will come true. He is no Houdini, he is nothing more then a bad actor.

The reason why all his Tricks seem to look impossible to do is because it is, all his stuff is FAKE and he uses actors and camera angles to trick everyone.!!
That is why Criss hasn't done much Street Magic as David did.

For a little bit of fun, as last time, i would like you to go to this link

http://truxter.wordpress.com...

And i would also like you to watch the same video which you had sent me last time..(yeah,the same spoof video)..now will you please check that video once more..and read the comments posted by magic fans.
Think, why would Criss make such a video? I think he's afraid that David is "overtaking" him in his magic skills..
Because of his insane and stupid acts Criss should really be called as a "freak"..and he really needs some Psychiatric treatment..!

Well..i wish my opponent _good luck!

"The how come a human body pass these much
force through his body? How come Guinness haven't noticed his(Criss') acts?"

Because Criss Angel is a magician, he has not done any true act of physical endurance that is notable within the covers of Guinness. Although, he has been awarded 3 Merlin's magic awards and the 22nd Louie Award, David Blaine currently has none.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I would like to mention that you're A/E story was false, I found the video on the internet and saw no such findings. As to your other site, I'd like to question its credibility; it seems to be an anti-Angel propaganda site.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I would believe that Criss did this act because the world of magic is a very competitive world. It is quite possible that he fears Blaine, and even more so possible that Blaine fears Criss. They need to beat each other to monopolize the market.

--------------------------------------------------------

"Because of his insane and stupid acts Criss should really be called as a "freak"..and he really needs some Psychiatric treatment..!"

No personal attacks are necessary.
In conclusion, it should be noted by the amount of fans that Criss Angel has, and his numerous awards and appearances in the Magic community shows that he is by far superior to David Blaine.

----------------------------------

I thank you for a good debate, hopefully we can do it again one day.
