There are many Fantasy writers but i believe that these two are one of the most skilled writers in fantasy history which one do you like more

Pro

Interesting topic, but I am confused as to the nature of the debate. Would you prefer if I defended Tolkien as being the better of the two writers? Or would you like me to put forth one of, or maybe 2 or all three of- J.K. Rowling (Harry Potter), C.S. Lewis (Narnia, Space Trilogy), or Orson Scott Card (Ender's Game series, Worthing Chronicle) as a challenger (assuming that you consider Card to be fantasy as opposed to Science Fiction).

Well, Con forfeits, vote pro.

However, I will continue with the debate.

I have selected C.S. Lewis, writer of the Chronicles of Narnia series.

1. Lewis is better than either Tolkien or Martin, because he can weave allegorical tales that have incredible substance as well.

The Narnia series is a 'Christian' cantos, which has biblical and religious references sprinkled throughout it. Despite this, even atheists hail it as one of the great works of fantasy.

The Space trilogy also has allegorical areas (particularly Perelandra, which is really an alternate unfolding of the Fall). However Lewis is still able to create a series that is both intellectually stimulating (especially in the realm of ethics and philosophy), and entertaining.

2. Lewis is able to create images of his characters and events using the simplest language. The Narnia series, for instance, is a childrens' series that I was read when I was young. I could understand every word (almost), of what was being described.

7 points to Pro (Arguments). Reasons for voting decision: All points to Pro, as there were no debate rules or structure set forth, nor whether Con or Pro would defend Tolkien or Martin. A+ for choice of Lewis, though I think Tolkien is the master. Fun fact: Tolkien's Treebeard in LoTR was based off Lewis, while Lewis's Professor Diggory was based off Tolkien.

[*Reason for non-removal*] Full forfeit debates are not moderated unless the voter votes for the forfeiting side.

I love GOT but Tolkien is easily the better of the two.

Martin writes A Game of Thrones, a current popular series. Tolkien wrote The Lord of The Rings, the series most current fantasy novels are based on.

This is more of a question than a debate.

You need to assign sides/stances so that arguments can be developed and cross-examined.
