Between Josef Stalin and Pope Innocent The Third who was the eviler of the two?

For the sake of the debate, I am taking Josef Stalin being "worse".

If Pro will accept my definitions...

Worse - Damaging to the world in terms of loss of life and damage to economy, both his own, and to others, through direct and indirect actions, both personal, and carried out on his behalf, and their repercussions.
Evil - Ideology built around harming others for gratification, though some gain may be involved, but is not the main objective.

None were evil per se. Both were men at the top of a pyramid seeking to increase their power.

Oh, right, I accept this "asking for definitions" debate, and so on and so forth.

Pope Innocent killed a higher percentage of the world population at the time and where Stalin had other relevant jurisdiction to deal with politically at the time including Hitler and Roosevelt. So Stalin was greater as far as evil goes but he wasn't as evil.

A little context would not be amiss here.
Pope Innocent III was the man responsible for the Fourth Crusade, which could otherwise be called the Constantinople SNAFU.
However, he removed ecclesiastical support of trial by ordeal, which meant that if you survived some abuse, you were innocent of the crime you committed. This makes him a good guy, because now trials needed something called evidence and lawyers. Okay, he was a little grey.
Stalin did none of that. He simply enforced a reign of terror that the French revolutionaries would flinch at. The man dropped a plan every so often that utterly failed to acknowledge reality. Also, he was infamous for his purges, and his removal of Trotsky, who was possibly the one person capable of cleaning up the Soviet's act.
Basically, he's Napoleon from Animal Farm, to the point where Napoleon was directly inspired by him.
But you know the one thing that stands out? Innocent III was reportedly reluctant to take power, but he did it anyway. Stalin schemed his way to the top, and made no bones about it. If you were in his way, nice knowing you, wait, you never existed, because you just got unpersoned.

I would say Stalin was worse because the Pope was just misguided at least. I disagree with the Papacy, but I wouldn't deliberately call them evil. They truly believe what they believe. Stalin, along with Churchill and many Northern European leaders are worse.

I am just asking for an opinion between the two who you would say is the more eviler of the two. I thought Stalin but was told Pope the Innocent is the worse.
