Kobe Bryant is the best player in he league by far. He has the experience and the leadership it takes to go to the finals just as he has done numerous times in the past. Kobe has proved that he can still score and put up points on a consistent basis. there has yet to be an injury that has caused Bryant to miss more than a weeks worth of games at a time. He has scored 40+ points recently three nights in a row and he has done so with an arthritic finger and knee problems. There is no other player in the league with his talent, skill or experience. Some may argue that he has had help to earn 6 rings but everyone needs a little help don't they? Michael Jordan had Scottie Pippen and Magic Johnson had James Worthy. Everyone had some form of help. Lebron James has yet to do anything that Kobe has achieved other than score a lot of points. Even when Lebron scores a lot of point he scores 30, 40 points only to lose the game in the 4th quarter because he can not close out a game like a true superstar should be able to do.

1. LeBron James at No. 1: Too high, too low or just right?

Henry Abbott, ESPN.com: Just right. It's a loaded, emotional issue, but if there are any objective people left -- Daryl Morey, for instance -- they'll tell you. No, his footwork isn't perfect. Yes, his jumper needs fixing. Sure, he had a bad crunch time when it mattered most. But put together his total contributions at both ends of the floor, many of which come from his size (so what?), and nobody produces like this dude.

J.A. Adande, ESPN.com: Just right. Sigh. This feels like the golf and women's tennis rankings, in which the No. 1 players never win championships. LeBron's array of skills is unmatched. He just doesn't put them all to the best use.

Mark Haubner, TrueHoop Network: Just right. I guess. Following the Eastern Conference finals, I thought LeBron had fully re-established himself as unquestionably the best player in basketball, but after another strangely passive playoff performance in the Finals, I don't know anymore. I firmly believe LeBron's subpar play now has cost his teams championships in two straight seasons. Maybe No. 1 is better left as "Vacant" for now.

John Hollinger, ESPN.com: Just right. I understand the criticism -- how can you put him at No. 1 when he hasn't won a championship? But day in, day out, he's the best player in the league right now.

Marc Stein, ESPN.com: Too high. LeBron is still the best all-around player and best two-way player in the game on this scorecard. But you can't be No. 1 if you fall as far short in the finishing department as he did in the NBA Finals. He has to take a dip after that performance. It's only proper.and bryant isnt in top five

Those are stats that kobe has been able to post no matter the injury that he is suffering and no matter. Lebron can't post up those numbers cause now he is surrounding himself with players like wade and bosh and still has yet to win a ring. In fact lebron lost to an aged mavericks team. Right now Kobe Bryant is leading the league in scoring a 33 year old man that is going through a divorce, a broke team that is being rebuilt and is surrounded by trade rumors and now there is no phil jackson. Miami has a team filled with players that have found some success on theyre own at some point in their careers.

I don't exactly understand how it was that i proved you're point. My point is that kobe has every achievement that lebron has and then some. Kobe has won a dunk competition he has been finals MVP which is something lebron will never get because he can never win in the finals. Kobe has led his team in scoring for years and i know lebron can do that but he isnt winning games in the process. Kobe had a string of 40 point games earlier and the season and his team won those games. Lebron attempts to score that many points and his team loses but not because his team cant hold their own but because he cant finish a game. Take his game last night for example, he scored 24 in the first quarter and and in the 2nd quarter he sat down for eight minutes straight. As a professional athlete and as a the leader on the court you can not just take a break for that because you feel like it. Lebron james is an athlete but not a knowledgeable basketball player or a leader. That miami game last night he only finished with a measley 40 points and it is pathetic to see someone score 24 in the first quarter only to score 16 points for the remainder of the game and only 8 points in the fourth when your team is trailing. The heat lost their game last night because lebron could not finish. He is playing worse than he did in cleveland when it should be the other way around now that he has more help and doesnt have to work himself as hard day in and day out. A true superstar plays with heart and is hungry for a win and lebron is not either of those. There has been times that they have lost by just one possesion this season and lebron does press conferences saying " we made a great effort, this loss isn't going to bother us" all that means is that we are happy that the game was close and that we didnt lose by a lot. Are you kidding me? This man wants to win a ring and he is just simply accepting losses day in and day out. That is not acceptable and at no point in any professional athletes career should he or she just simply accept a loss. That type of behavior does not win you a championship. Lebron is in his prime and he is 29 years old, at this point it does not look like he is going to have as many rings as kobe or michael jordan unless he manages to win 6 straight or plays passed 35 at a high level.
