Baseball was an Olympic sport, removed in the 2008 Summer Games due to cost inefficiencies, however, a high quality tennis stadium ( which we all know are in the Olympics) actually cost more than some of the current day baseball stadiums. Now although a counter-argument can be that a baseball stadium built specifically for the games may only be used once or twice and that tennis facilities can be used more. To discount that argument I will provide two simple facts 1. Since when does the IOC (International Olympic Committee) care about cost. They built stadiums for all these other sports but removed baseball/softball. 2.The stadiums can actually be put to good use. In some areas children, teens, and even adults lack the proper space and area to play the game of baseball.
Major League Baseball is actively supporting the Olympic movement " and trying to grow the game internationally. It is a financial supporter of the World Baseball Softball Confederation, which is leading the effort to get the sports back in the Olympics. It also supports and promotes the World Baseball Classic, the annual MLB Japan All-Star series, and events like last spring"s season-opening series in Australia.
