For centuries children have been encouraged to learn music or musical instruments to benefit their both musical and academic knowledge, after all, theory music is just maths on a staff isn't it? I want to know what you think about encouraging today's children to learn music and carry on this ancient art to the next generations, to improve well being and basic knowledge within a child's mind.
Learning to play musical instruments is a hobby for some, but encouraging them to play musical instruments is not the best idea. Children need to know things they will always need in life. Math and Science and S.S. is something they need. Musical instruments are also a distraction to children. What, they need their instrument to figure out how much their bill is going to cost? Ancient history is the past. This is the present.
I can sympathize with that, but I have a niece in grade 9 who gets straight A's and still takes on numerous musical activities inside and outside of school. Academics are actually more stressful and tiring for a child than playing musical instruments. Music allows children to have more creativity in their lives, and it improves basic recognition skills that can be useful for these academic subjects as maths, english, and language studies.
