In recent lectures in my University, it has come to my attention that 1,000's of species are becoming extinct at an alarming rate, but it rarely makes the headlines and newspapers, why is this? when these animals are gone, thats it there gone, I cannot believe some people

1.Animals really aren't going extinct that fast. (most of these are only extinct in the wild) http://www.buzzle.com...
2. There can only be so many animals in the world so if a few go extinct it's fine as long as a entire Genus never goes extinct so similar DNA is never lost(is it sad if 1 breed of dog goes extinct?) . http://en.wikipedia.org...
3. Evolution is constantly creating new animals so it makes since that a few go extinct. (only the strongest should survive)
http://listverse.com...(whether there are recently discovered or newly evolved is debatable but there odds are we would have found them already or found some fossils.)

Animals aren't going extinct fast?? Sorry that is completely false, 100's of amphibians are going extinct each weak, it is only the flagship animals such as Rhino, Amur Leopard etc make the headlines.
Evolution is not necessary creating new animals just evolving the current ones for example getting faster, growing longer horns, louder song etc..

1. There are now Zoo's guaranteed to keeping endangered animals alive.
2. A lot of Animal populations are decreasing but going extinct is just farfetched, only a few went extinct between 1900-2000 less than 50 if I can recall.http://listverse.com...
3. Evolution creates new animals all the time (especially when animals are separated.) I know this is a poor example but there are 2 different types of squirrel's (Kaibab and Abert) that are separated by the grand canyon, but once weren't, now they are so diverse now they can no longer reproduce with each other. http://uccpbank.k12hsn.org...
