Definitions

Draft- the selective service system for millitary conscription in the USA.

For this debate, what is "Ought" is the option that yields the most net benefits.

The Pro will argue that Requiring women to register for the draft (just as men do) will yield higher net benefits, then not requiring them to do so.

The Con will argue that the status quo has higher net benefits than the action proposed by the resolution.
Jifpop09

Con

I will argue that men or women should not be drafted in the first place. My argument will be based off of many factors.
Including the necessity for a drafting system and freedom of will.

Pro

The rules of this debate have been compromised. The Con and I have decided to do a new Debate under the title "The Draft Ought to be Abolished" in which I will be con.

JUDGES, PLEASE DO NOT VOTE ON THIS DEBATE.

Many people consider sexism and feminism legitimate points of debate hahaha.

Either way, do you accept the terms for a new subject of debate?

They are one in the same coin. Actually, arguing the draft itself is the only legitimate argument in my opinion. Unless you want a stupid debate involving sexism or feminism.

Yes it does matter. I created this debate because I wanted to discuss whether or not the draft should be women as well as men, not whether or not the draft should exist at all. If you wanted to debate that topic, you should have challenged me to a debate on that topic. I'd be willing to post empty rounds for this debate and ask voters to not vote, and instead create a new debate on the topic "The Selective Service Act ought to be repealed." In which I would be con.

Should it matter? Either way I will be debating that your stance is wrong.

The rules clearly state that the con must argue in favor of the status quo. Debating for the repeal of the SSA, is not in favor of the status quo.

To kill the snake, you must cut off the head. By proving that a draft is not needed at all, I am actually proving your topic wrong. It is not a rule violation.
