Why would men need a day, where they celebrate themselves? Being a man is not something to celebrate, neither is being a woman. Yes, men hav done a lot for women and for the world. But, no a man cannot have a kid on his own; neither can women. You have kids by working together and it is only by working together that we are ever going to accomplish anything really useful as humans. I would say the same in regards to an international women's day. I would actually have the same opinion in regards to any day celebrating anything, to be honest. Or even black history month, there is nothing that needs to be celebrated. Black history month is practically useless; Yes the world still contains a bit of racism in it but the world also contains sexism and murder. Should we celebrate being alive day? Because, it seems to me as if that is the next step.
Why not? Men fight in war and they protect us women and children. Why can't we have one day a year dedicated to them. We should also have a day for women.
We should also have white history and arab history months or days. Black people have had a tough history and having a month dedicated to it is great. White people also have done a lot of of great things. We should celebrate every group.
Can you seriously see nothing wrong with that? I don't know about you (but I'm feeling 22) but to me it seems that if we celebrate these days that you have mentioned then we should celebrate everything, everyday. World peanut butter day! ( not a bad idea!). Secondly, people do not like to be reminded of their mistakes, black history month just highlights to people that are not black, that the blacks have gone through a lot to get to where we are;which they have. But, what about French people or Sudanese or Congolese don't they get a day too? There are too many achievements for human beings to actually celebrate, way more than 365 (days in a year). We would have to have half a day for each achievement and we still will not have enough days to fit them. Black history month has one purpose and we all know what that is. But, have you ever thought about it really? Why are we still celebrating black history month? Has this world not moved on from segregation and racism and discrimination? No, we have not. Not completely anyway. But, in the UK and the US racism and discrimination has been 'booted' out of there, making it a crime, therefore any form of racism or discrimination is now an official offence's why are we still celebrating this month? Why would we celebrate white peoples day either? All that would do, is bring up dispute and even more conflict; we'll have black and Asian people protesting about slavery or colonisation and is it not easier to avoid an issue than dive at face first?
Black people have gone through a lot so it's important to acknowledge their struggles each year. So have native Americans. White Americans haven't gone through as many troubles as African Americans and native Americans but we have invented many things and made important discoveries that help people today. Also many white people fought in the civil war to free the slaves and fought in the civil rights movement. They should be acknowledged also.
I don't know about a worlds men day but a national men's day is fine. We have a national pancake day, cupcake day and ice cream day. We should also have a specific day to celebrate white America, Asian America, Black America ect.
