What one do you like more and why I like ps4.

As I am the opponent and they have chosen the Sony PlayStation 4, I will be rooting for (even though I am playing devil's advocate) the Microsoft Xbox One. Similar to an actual console review, I will be going into (but not too much) detail of the features and components of a console. Then, I will compare it to that of PS4. But don't worry, I will not go too geeky in order to make it easier for the voters and audience to understand.

Console Design

The Xbox One is much more attractive and visually appealing then the PlayStation 4. There are two symmetrical textures that "split" the console in half. The first texture is a smooth metallic texture that is colored piano black which gives it the appearance of a shiny and new electronic device, making it seem futuristic as the PS4 fails to do that (the Nintendo Wii U achieves that, but we aren't debating about the Wii U.) The second texture is a rough but pleasing texture as it is composed of a pattern of diagonal indented lines which also make it seem modern. Its overall simplicity makes the Xbox One friendly to all ages and all audiences, whether hardcore or casual. Speaking of simplicity, the Xbox One only has a disc slot and the logo that is shown twice (once on top and another at the front). This logo is black and white which "compliments" the black of the console and can glow when the system is turned on. The PS4 is complex in design, lacks attractive textures, and fails to have any exclusive features except being less bulky.

Hardware

Though the hardware of the PlayStation 4 is technically superior to the Xbox One, there is still no shame in mentioning its peaks over its superior competitor. As Microsoft is a computer manufacturing company, they have the advantage of being more experienced in electronic hardware. It is built to run like a gaming PC, and even has better processing speed, better graphic quality, and better GUI/OS. The Xbox One is significantly faster than the PlayStation 4 during load times, and this makes a huge difference in such a fast-paced world where many people depend on speed to get their tasks on electronic devices to be satisfied or complete. From in-game load screens to waiting for apps to open and close, the Xbox One wins in the speed department. As the OS is similar to that of Windows 8, the GUI is aesthetically appealing and is convenient for gamers as most PC owners have Windows 8 OS, making it easier to navigate. Those that have used Windows 8 OS on PC for gaming purposes will certainly feel right at home with the Xbox One.

Controller

Xbox has made some slight changes to the gamepad controller while still sticking to the older design, making it familiar for veteran gamers and easy for them to adapt to the newer style. It has a nice d-pad that rips off of Nintendo, which is miles better than the d-pad on the Xbox 360. The Xbox logo button is exactly like on the console and is on a plastic component built between the shoulder buttons so it won't be accidentally pressed and increases visual appeal. Control sticks are now inward, which the center of the stick is deep and the edges are bumpy. Speaking of edges, the circular edge is rough due to the new grip, making it both ergonomic and appealing. Face buttons have the letters colored instead of the buttons making it stand out more in the blackness of the controller. Shoulder and trigger buttons are a major improvement as well since they are no longer placed in awkward positions, nor are they dis-proportioned. Compared to the Dual-Shock 4 that has awkward menu, control stick, and shoulder/trigger button placement; as well as a small size and near useless touch-pad, it can be agreed that the Xbox One controller is better. And, by the way, it also has a built-in gyroscope and accelerometer for motion controls and gimmicks.

Online

This is probably where one can see the huge gap in online quality. Though Xbox Live is paid at a much more expensive price than PlayStation Network, the service itself is overall better, has more features, and is actually more secure. As it is the successor to the Xbox 360 which was praised for better online functionality, one can only expect the same for the Xbox One. Also, even though Microsoft was heavily criticized by fans to focus more on casual consumers with entertainment, that is also a benefit of the Xbox One's online. Being able to use services such as YouTube, Netflix, HuluPLUS, Amazon Video, and Amazon Prime, as well as DVD compatibility, it also has cable streaming allowing you to hook up the console to your cable TV box and watch everything from the Xbox One, which truly makes it an all-in-one entertainment box. Installing the Xbox Smart-Glass on to both the console and a mobile device makes it even better as you can now do all of that on to a smartphone or tablet while playing video games or doing other things on the Xbox One. It also allows for listening to music and internet browsing as well.

Add-Ons/Accessories

Returning from the Xbox 360 is the Kinect, this time called the Kinect 2.0. What this does is an improved version of the old Kinect. Imagine the old Kinect with all the features improved and fixed, included with voice recognition technology allowing you to speak with the Xbox One to command it to perform certain actions, as well as body movement recognition to allow users to perform movements with their arms and hands to control the menus and features of the Xbox One without playing any game. That is the new Kinect 2.0. Sure, it does have its problems and is rather useless and gimmicky, but the same can be said for PlayStation Move 2 which can only be used during gameplay and must utilize PlayStation Move controllers to actually work instead of just one's body and voice.

Video Games

One of the most important factors in deciding the financial success or failure are the games on the system. Many powerhouse consoles such as the Atari Jaguar, Sega Dream-Cast, and PlayStation Vita have came and all failed because of a shortage of games. However, the opposite can be said true for the Xbox One. At E3 2013, it was already confirmed that there would be more both third party and first party games than the PlayStation 4, despite Microsoft almost never making first party IP's other than Halo and Killer Instinct. That right there proves that Sony has a shortage of games as it is a fact that first-party games are rather lacking for Xbox. After launch, it continues to have many games to support the Xbox One, both third party and first party. In fact, even games that were once PC exclusives are now being released for the Xbox One, giving it a better advantage when competing with Sony. Microsoft is also stepping up their game by attempting to make first party games besides Halo, such as Forza, while Sony continues to neglect many of their famous and amazing first party franchises such as God Of War and Uncharted. Many of the games available on Xbox One also have slightly higher ratings than that found on PS4. Though indie games are lacking, Microsoft is working to improve it and indie games honestly do little to improve the financial success of a console (looks at Wii U).

Graphics

Last and certainly least, the graphics. As with the PS4, it also has 4K ultra high definition graphics for the first time in gaming history. Both systems have similar graphics when third party games are compared, but the Xbox One overall has better image quality. Though the PlayStation 4 does have more games rendering at a resolution of 1080p HD and frame-rate of 60 FPS, the Xbox One still does better with image quality. Many multi-platform games on the PS4 for some particular reason always has the brightness, contrast, and hue being lower than that of the Xbox One. The Xbox One never has such a problem and looks better as a result. Sure, its resolution is 720p and many games are still at 30 FPS, but when upscaling both consoles to true 4K resolution via 4K UHD televisions, the Xbox One will still look much better than the Sony PlayStation 4. And as I mentioned earlier, Microsoft is a computer company and therefore has a better experience and skill with such matters. Many multi-platform titles that get released on PC also look amazing on the Xbox One, far better than the PS4, such as Far Cry 4 and Watch-Dogs.

With everything being analyzed, I can confidently assure the opponent that the Xbox One is superior to the PlayStation 4 in terms of controllers, console design, online, and game support, as well as a better image quality, better GUI/OS, faster processing speed, more entertainment features, and add-ons that are gimmicky but innovative and creative. Though this may seem too much, I hope that opponent can refute all of this by analyzing the PlayStation 4 in however style of analysis that they prefer to do.
