Youth should play all sports while growing up rather than specialize in one particular sport.

I believe it will make them a better athlete and develop all skills needed to participate in one particular sport.

The way pro athletes get good are by working and playing one sport. Bryce Harper only played baseball all his life and look at him now, he's a pro. All sports help you get better at your sports, but the more you play ONE sport, the better you'll get at it.

Playing multiple sports will have benefits, such as training certain muscle groups and developing traits specific to each sport; soccer encourages team work and focuses on the legs etc.

But as CON has already stated, you must specialise in a certain area to become the very best at is. This is a fundamental truth in any area of life, whether that be sports, or something entirely different, such as music; a good pianist will not automatically be an accomplished guitar player.

Personally, I would encourage youth to try as many activities as possible until they find what they enjoy the most. They can continue taking part in other activities, or they may decide to focus on what they find best for them.
