I believe that Zoo's are a jail for inacent animals that need to live a life of freedom such as people in the US. Sure it is good for child education but there are a lot more places you can go, you want to see animals go to the pet store go to great america go to a carnival. You dont have to go to the zoo. Tigers need to rome free learn to be hunters learn to be a real tiger or a lion not a human trapped in an animal. If a rather large animal such as a bear is born in the zoo and grows up there then when they bring in a new bear and let that one go that bear will die with in a week or two because it has no idea how to hunt or protect its self even though most animals fear the bear. Brook field zoo for example is a great zoo for kids and animals a little because they make every animals habitat look like it would if they were in the wild like they are supposed to be the habitats at brook field zoo are like the animals habitat but not at all close to the real thing eather because one most of them are not outside they are inside and there habitats are not long or big enough they need the real thing they need to experience life they need to live life how every animal should live. Putting animals in a zoo is like taking humans putting them in a cage with the cage looking like where they would live and having people go and sight see. Zoo's are a terrible thing.
First of all, I would like to point out some very large holes in the Con's opening argument.
1) Defining terms
What constitutes being a real lion or tiger the Con never gave a clear definition for these terms
2) Contradictory statements the Con states that he/she does not like the idea of animals in captivity ,yet the Con later states that if " [people] wants to see animals go to a pet store or carnival". This statement is in direction contradiction with the Con's entire point.
Zoos try their best to assimilate the environment of the particular animal living in a certain habitat. Of course, the habitats aren't letter perfect, but zookeepers are not magicians; creating a mirror image of the animal's natural habitat is an impossible task.
The number of species becoming endangered in the wild has increased immensely in the last century. Zoos offer a safe place for animals to breed, and offer a sanctuary that helps maintain dying animal populations.
3) Don't live in cages
Any person who has ever been to a zoo can tell you that the enclosures that present day animals live in are far cry from the cages of the past.
He/She states that earlier in my argument I specifically said "if you like animals go to the pet store" meaning dogs and cats are not meant and created to be wild animals at the pet store dogs and cats are there for a certain amount of time other wise they move to a kennel they do not stay there until they die or are dieing like in a zoo. He/She also states that I earlier said the zoo can not make the perfect habitat, and he/she is right no one can, but that was not my point. The habitat is not the real wild it is a containment that these pore animals are kept in as if they are prostitutes to show off to people. When an animal gets sick at the zoo they give the animal drugs, why? Because maybe they got sick from a visitor little kids through stuff in the animals cage all the time and the employee's do not see it. When an animal gets sick there mother if still a cub or kid etc. The mother takes care of the baby and they are fine with 3 days to a week, so when you drug an animal when they do not need it and then die and continue the prosses they can lead to extinction to animals such as elephants and polar bears.
