College athletes shouldn't be paid for many reasons. First of all, college is made for learning and NOT for playing sports and getting paid as a job. they go there to learn, and as a hobby or on free time they play sports. There have been examples like the Fab Five Scandal where people have been punished for numerous NCAA rules violations. These are just some reasons why students shouldn't get paid for playing sports.

I accept.

Negative Case

C1) Psychology
Researchers at the Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM) found that physical activities, such as sports, improve psychological health and intelligence quotient. [1. https://www.psychologytoday.com...] Having high information grasping is supported by sports and is necessary for an appropriate college education. Paying college athletes will encourage more pupils of a university school or college to take part in physical outdoor activities and sport, improving their IQ and mental health, allowing them to process information faster. Researchers at Dana Ferber and the Harvard Medical School found that physical activity results in improved cognition, especially team sports, where the ability for empathy and emotional quotient in addition to logical reasoning and fast intellectual cognition is absorbed into minds. [2. https://www.psychologytoday.com...] This is due to a specific set of protein molecules called protein-5, which strengthen the genetic skills of cognition in addition to aiding in the processing of carbohydrates and sugars. Proteins of the transforming factor-beta family also aid in partial cognition skills.

C2) Physiology
"Regular physical activity and play are essential for physical, mental, psychological and social development. Good habits start early: The important role of physical education is demonstrated by the fact that children who exercise are more likely to stay physically active as adults. Sport also plays a major positive role in one’s emotional health, and allows to build valuable social connections, often offering opportunities for play and self-expression." [3. http://www.un.org...]

As is common knowledge, sugars that are processed into glycogen during cellular respiration [via. oxidation of carbohydrate sugars that are generally more complex than CH2O, i.e. formaldehyde] release thermal energy and mechanical energy that is used to carry out the structural and functional capabilities of tissue at the cellular level. Sometimes, the glycogen is not oxidized completely and instead thickens cellular bilipid membranes or generally adds to the lipid composition of the body, which may result in health problems such as obesity, etc. Physical activity allows for further expansion and absorption of oxygen by the lungs, exhausting of energy, and speedy circulation of blood, allowing for swift release of energy from lipids in the body. Paying students for physical activity encourages them to aid their health.

Con must prove that sports are not involved in learning, etc. as the BoP is shared (as it is unspecified). The resolution is affirmed.

Reasons for voting decision: Conduct to Pro due to FF by Con. | Arg to Pro as he provided a negative case, and Con failed to fulfill the BoP. | Sources to Pro, as Pro was the only one to use sources. | S&G goes to Pro, as Pro had no errors, and Con had 5.
