there should be a death sentence for if there is no death sentence than here will be nothing stopping murder, jail is a common penalty but murder is taking a human life.

Contention 1: High cost

Subpoint A: The Death Penalty costs more then the life in prision. This is genearlly due to the long leagal process, and trials that must be done before the person executed. This wastes much of taxpayers money, and could be better used for programs that actually improve the communities in which we live. The millions of dollars in savings could be spent on: education, roads, police officers and public safety programs, after-school programs, drug and alcohol treatment, child abuse prevention programs, mental health services, and services for crime victims and their families.[1] This high cost is needed in order to ensure that the person is not convicted for a crime he/she didn't commit.[1] This brings me straight to my second contention.

Contention 2: Innocent people have been convicted
Subpoint A: Although the Death Penalty's intention is to execute people who have done harm to the society. There have been many cases where the person that was on death row didn't truly commit the crime. We cannot value human life. If innocent people are being evicted the death penalty shouldn't exist!

Wait - I just want to make sure I know which side you are on. Are you saying that the death penalty should exist or not exist?
