I want someone who is a good debater to accept this one because these last few debaters have either flaked out ore done a terrible job with their arguments, so please, don't. Also I will be using google documents so don't whine about "conduct," it's not a conduct violation get over it.

So you think deflation is good for the economy? Depends on how you look at it, I will look at the unemployment side while you look at the side of money raising in value. I accept your challenge.

During the time when America was experiencing deflation, between 1840 to 1910, our GDP was growing at a rate of 6.8% annually. Also, deflation does not cause unemployment, Switzerland is experiencing deflation rate of ~1.5%, and their unemployment rate is 3.2%.

well, if the deflation rate is long lasting at an aggressive rate, then its bad for the economy because people will either be fired or have their pay cut just so the company or business can still operate

Sure they'll get pay cuts, but if there were a sudden deflation of 20% and your pay was cut by 20%, you would still live the same quality of living because prices would get cut 20% also. So you wouldn't really be getting a pay cut, your pay would only be represented in fewer numbers, but your real wages remain the same. The only difference is that now your savings have become more valuable, allowing for you to invest it.

I would take it up but google docs makes it a research/lengthy debate, which I don't feel like

Reasons for voting decision: FF, and Pro actually provides some statistical evidence. Con makes a one sentence response which isn't really compelling. But I am not going to give arguments to either side. Con's higher number of FF's justify the conduct vote, though.
