i don't feel that report cards show how smart you are because-

1.somepeople don't try hard during school

2.different teacher mean different types of grading so if one teacher grade different then another one person might have a better grade

tom
classwork 100pt 20 pecent of your grade
homework 0pt 80 percent of your grade

billy
classwork 100pt 80 percent of your grade
homework 0pt 20 percent of your grade

report cards do show that someone is smarter if the people included apply themselves equally. and your second point is not necessarily true if the two are in the same classes. I say that because it is obvious that one of them are smarter because they would probably be at different levels of learning if it is the same subject but different teachers that grade differently- so they shouldn't count in the situation.

"report cards do show that someone is smarter if the people included apply themselves equally."

that the point exactly how can scan you say some one is smart or not if they don't aply them self.

some people fell like work is a waste of time so they don't aply them self why they do or choose not to do it at all

they don't have a good teacher is also a reason. they understand what the teacher is saying because they have an accent or they not good at explaining.

"and your second point is not necessarily true if the two are in the same classes."
that the point what if they aren't in the same class

finally some teacher are nicer to other student than the are to other so they might give lesss work.

First of all, I would appreciate it if you spoke (typed) in a grammatically correct way. It is very confusing and somewhat hard to read. There were many points when I didn't understand you.

But anyway, the whole question of the debate was whether report cards show how smart you are. You used the excuse that sometimes people don't try hard. I used the excuse that if you get two people that do try hard equally, then report cards are effective. So, based on the question, we are both correct- if the circumstances are on either of our sides.

"I used the excuse that if you get two people that do try hard equally, then report cards are effective."

No they are only effective in showing how he or she compare to each other but not how smart they are over all. because even though they try equally to each other that does not mean that they are trying their best.

and from what i've seen there is not a lot of people who try their best during school.

SORRY ABOUT MY GRAMMAR.

It doesn't matter whether they tried their best or not. I say that because if two people compare their scores from trying equally, the person with the higher score is the smartest. If you think that that is wrong because : report cards don't show your intelligence without a comparison - your title clearly asks whether report cards show how smart you are. But you did not say whether it shows that head on. It certainly shows your intelligence, if you take the right steps in order to understand that.

I believe that report cards to not show how smart you are but for different reasons than the con side provided.

This has gotten more into whether or not people try equally hard in school, and people obviously do not.

There are poor arguments abound on both sides.

well it doesn't necessarily show how smart someone is, because report cards show how much work a student turns in.

The following made me laugh:
"they don't have a good teacher is also a reason. they understand what the teacher is saying because they have an accent or they not good at explaining."
"finally some teacher are nicer to other student than the are to other so they might give lesss work."

Con obviously falls into the category of people who "fell like work is a waste of time so they don't aply them self why they do or choose not to do it at all" in the subject of spelling and grammar.

Keep in mind that 'smart' is very subjective. All are smart in different ways.
