i think that a girl can play on a male football and it not considered a coed team. a girl is just as fast as they are. girls are as strong as guys are. and girls can do anything that a boy can do. (pro)

Thanks for the challenge, but I realized I'll be gone all next week so if you could respond before Sunday that would be great. So I may not make the last round. Anyway, I will refute my opponent's statement.

"i think that a girl can play on a male football and it not considered a coed team."

Actually, it would be considered a co-ed team because there is a mixture of boys and girls, regardless of the skill level involved.

"a girl is just as fast as they are. girls are as strong as guys are."

Males are genetically built more fit than females are, by nature. Now, a girl can obviously exercise to the point where she is more fit than some men, but the number of physically capable men far outnumber the amount of physically capable women.

"and girls can do anything that a boy can do."

This is true, but that doesn't mean a boy can do it better. If one girl tries out for the football team, and 40 boys do, and the coach needs 40 people on a team, he will cut the girl if her skill level does not equal that of the men's.

==================================================================================

Here is my contention. Having a girl participate in a mostly-male game can lead to lawsuits. There could be cases of sexual harassment, physical contact, etc. that can lead to the girl suing. Therefore, in the best interest of the football team and the girl, terrible lawsuits should be avoided by keeping a one-gender team.

ok i see what you are saying but a girl is as strong as a guy. the girl who trys out for the team has a right to show the coaches, the players and the fans what she can do out on the field. and even if she makes the team and a boy loses his spot on the team then that would mean the girl is better than that boy. see guys take us girl as people who should be on the cheerleading team and to be in a house taking care of kids, but we can do a lot more than that and if a girl makes the team she desives a chance and not be treated like crap. and if that girl played a different sport before football (lets say soccer) people who play soccer have more accurate placing of the ball. the girl doesnt have to be on the line she can be a kicker and soccer players have a better since of dircetion of where to put to ball. and the way it seems you are trying to say that a girl couldn't play on a football team with boys.

"the girl who trys out for the team has a right to show the coaches, the players and the fans what she can do out on the field."

That's what tryouts are for.

"and even if she makes the team and a boy loses his spot on the team then that would mean the girl is better than that boy. see guys take us girl as people who should be on the cheerleading team and to be in a house taking care of kids, but we can do a lot more than that and if a girl makes the team she desives a chance and not be treated like crap."

It's not a matter of discrimination. It's a matter of the consequences (lawsuits, etc.).

"and if that girl played a different sport before football (lets say soccer) people who play soccer have more accurate placing of the ball. the girl doesnt have to be on the line she can be a kicker and soccer players have a better since of dircetion of where to put to ball."

So can a boy. But this point is rather null anyway, since school soccer season is the same as football.

"and the way it seems you are trying to say that a girl couldn't play on a football team with boys."

Yes, but not for the reasons you state.

Looming lawsuits, bad reputations, and lots of time and money are at stake when hosting a co-ed sport. This alone is more than enough to cut any female players from a male football team.

Also, since my opponent failed to address my argument (which I just extended), that is considered a dropped point. I have also refuted my opponent's points, so vote Con.
