A great football player will achieve status regardless of whether or not the avg joe six pack(or keg) has any talent.

The question of opportunity has relevence only in to the scope that status is a function of selectivity.

In the first round i discussed about economic status...that beauty contests are not much helping for those girls who are not beautiful, bold and sexy....and u told me that it depends upon selectivity ...on this i want to tell u that some girls are are there who really wants to participate in this contest, but due to ugly face and figureless ,their dreams got shattered..and they trap into depression, saddness, engage in self destructive activities and in this dispression they committed suicide..also some try to have zero size so that they look beautuful,attractive....and in this race of trying themselves to be attractive they kill themselves(many models have died because of zero size)so it basically harms the physical status of women..and they one thing remains their minds that because of they are ugly they cannot do anything, they cannot have success..they have nothing if they they donot have beautiful face.More over who are in these contests some of them turn themselves into sex objects to earn more money by using their physical attriveness and convert themselves into prostitution which can give them various diseases(hiv)..so these girls are at higher risk of be caught by death. In this round ,i only want to tell these beauty contests destroys physical status of women

All of your points can be pointed to any activity that has some form of competition. I don't think that you are arguing against competition per say but specifically this type of competition. In order for your argument to work, you need to differentiate this competition from other competitions.

Women are viewed as sexual objects. I see no problem with this. In fact, I would be concerned if they were not seen as sexual objects by men. Evolution is contingent on its ability to ascertain what is the 'fittest' when performing sexual selection. Men seek youth and beauty and women seek status. With duel parental investment strategy that homo sapiens have 'chosen', both sexual selection strategies influence the progeny.

Beauty contests, reflect these natural tendencies and celebrate 'the fittest'. It is no different than going to a Farmers festival and witnessing ribbons for the largest pumpkin or the finest milking cow. It is also the same with dog shows.

I am not agree to treat woman as sex object. If Women will be treated as nothing more than objects, as nothing more than their bodies, then it is now more acceptable to abuse and rape women because they are objects, not persons.Beauty contests are simply showing their body n inviting others to commit rape activities. As we all know in old times women appears in full dresses ,rape activities are quite less than now. These contests are just projects women as showcases of beauty which is more of interest to the male libido. These contests also degrades woman because it tends to portray women as materialistic objects. Appreciating beauty and respecting women is good but the way it is projected in the contest is wrong and unethical. It is not clear to me how people regard all this as upliftment of women, and giving them equal status as men. I am sure 99% of the men who watch the contest, do so for their carnal pleasures, and not because of a desire to improve the condition to womankind in this world. There are several other ways to improve the condition and uplift the status of women in this world.

It's about time we showed how civilised we have become and stop parading women around like cattle.Respect Them, not to treat them like materialitic object.

You proceed assuming that treating women as sexual objects is mutually exclusive of treating women with respect. I disagree. One can be both treated as a sexual object and be respected.

Female sexuality is a powerful force. I don't think any adult can deny the ability of a womans beauty to affect those around her.

I agree with you that socially enforced modesty decreases carnal lust in interactions between men and women. Though I think that for beautiful women, this modesty actually decreases their power and status.

I would also point out that the desire for beauty is not only a male preoccupation but also one of the ladies as well. Women are in my opinion, more critical of the way another woman looks.

Men desire youth and beauty as indicators of the female's ability to have offspring. Men are not the choosier sex though. If female sexual strategy were the same as male sexual strategy then one would expect male female pairings to be truly polygamous with very large number of partners as experienced in the gay communities.

The Female strategy is based on a greater initial physical investment and requires her to find mates that can support her and her offspring with material goods, whether directly or through influence of the males greater social status. From this, I argue that women are more critical and discerning, not only with men but their competitors as well.

I think though that feminist and people such as yourself, argue based upon what you think things 'should be' rather than what they actually are.

What things actually are: is that we are a product of millions of years of evolution and are stuck with a biology designed to fight disease.

Where they should be: is where reproductive cues should be based on earning power derived from economic specialization rather than based on fighting disease or the ability to chase down prey.

Where a womans ability to show she can have offspring with less disease may not matter as much with medical science, we are still left with our historical legacy and are affected by it. Men will be puddy in the hands of a beautiful woman regardless of the number of vaccines and drugs we develope.

Although this part will more than likely hurt my argument, I do agree with you to a large degree. We have created societies with distict cultural mores that have proven to be successful in promoting those civilizations. Those that did not have not survived. As such, if you take a darwinistic view of civilizations, those civilizations that emphasized female modesty, mate guarding and legal protections have succeeded. In this, I think that some of your arguments about the objectification of the female form are correct.

RFD: While CON was pretty senseless, she at least upheld her end of the debate, PRO did not show how beauty contests help improve the status of women.

CON: Write in English, nobody wants to read "i donot think beaty contests improves women status, because this opprtunity is only for gud looking girls, but there are women who donot have beatiful face or fugure still they worked for other jobs and have much gud status"

PRO: Don't agree to CON's position!
