Yesterday i went to a 3rd grade class to help out and there were on division already and think that is way too young for kids to be learning division.I think that in the 4/5th grade they should be learning that i remember in 3rd grade we were just learning multiplication. I beleive school is getting too hard for elementry school kids.

I would like to thank you for posting this debate, and wish you good luck.

I would like to begin by saying that I know plenty of kids(myself included) who think/thought elementary school was too easy. My old neighbour was in first grade doing pre-algebra. My brothers are just below that. Also, if some people(myself included) had been given harder schooling, they would be way farther.

Thank you for this debate, and I hope to hear your arguments in the next round.

It's good to have more education but that is way to much for a 3rd grader comming right out of 2nd grade. All the pressure put on them when they have to take a test.I also visited another school and they were doing alot of easier stuff than that 3rd grade class i think it is unfair to some kids that they get off with easier stuff and some kids have to learn alot more.

Personally I think it is unfair other kids get a more intense schooling program than I did. Yes, it might be a little bit of pressure, but if they don't get any pressure in 3rd grade, then when they are in sixth grade and actually being challenged, how are they supposed to be ready? Babying them with easy schoolwork will not help them. I remember learning a little bit of division in first grade, and wishing the teacher would tech it to me so I could understand it more.
Thank you for this debate

that is mad common to have division in 3rd grade
especially in asian countries like China and Taiwan, the education levels are a lot higher than in the US

haha, yeah. I have a Washington education (aka a cut all funding education). Well in all the learning PRO recieved, they must have forgot to show her that "too" and "to" were two different things. OR at least they aren't in her resolution...

We did the same in 3rd grade in Canada in 1970. Wasn't too hard.
Note the spelling of "too" by the way. ;-)

At least they're learning to spell "elementary".

Have you seen what elementary school kids in China are learning?
