Ok, well let"s start this *interesting* topic right off. Without further ado:

REBUTTAL:

"is this ok"

I assume you are talking about the resolution. I am here to debate whether it is ok or not. You, as side Pro, should be saying that it is and why, not just simply ask the question "is it ok?"

As side con, I am going to do what my opponent failed to do: Give support and essentially answer his question.

ARGUMENT 1: Exploding cars endanger lives.

Imagine this: You"re an innocent father/mother taking your child for a stroll when a maniac decides to blow up a car bomb. You are seriously injured and your child is dead. You did nothing wrong. Your child did nothing wrong. But now you have life-threatening injuries and what should be one of the most if not the most important people in your life is gone. The death of innocents is not okay, especially for an unjustified car bombing.

As another example, let me draw your attention to the Omagh Bombings of 1998. 29 people died and 220 people were injured {3}. Did those people do anything wrong? NO! They were just there in Northern Ireland. They died for one reason. Because they were THERE.

You may say "So what? It"s just 29 people. More people are born in a minute, so what is the big deal?" The big deal is that they shouldn"t have died. Would it be a big deal if someone close to you died?

ARGUMENT 2: Waste of money.

The average car is around $31K to buy. {1} Imagine what a waste of money that would be to explode such an expensive thing. 31 thousand dollars is something that takes most families months, even years to make enough money to buy this. Is it OK for something this expensive to explode. NO!.

Let me give you an example: You are a hardworking person, who isn"t earning very much, but are saving up to buy a car. In fact you are the average american making just over 50 thousand per year {2}. You can"t afford to have something that you spent the majority of your annual money on to be blown up? Exploded?

Thanks,

DDD
