1 point to Con (Conduct). Reasons for voting decision: Forfeits by Con.

[*Reason for non-removal*] (1) Conduct point sufficiently explained. Moderation standard for single-round forfeits is that automatically awarding the conduct point for the forfeit is fine, but if other points are awarded as well, they need to be explained in reasonable depth. Where one side forfeits in full, the votes typically will not be moderated unless the voter voted the wrong side or other such exceptional cases.

ObjectiveDre, I think you may be equivocating on the use of the word, "natural." You appear to take "natural" to mean "what actually happens in nature." But I don't think that's what Hayd meant by natural. I think what Hayd meant by natural was "ordered in a certain way" or "functions in a certain way." To say that same sex relationships are unnatural isn't to say that they don't happen in nature; rather, it's to say that they are contrary to the function or ordering of male and female reproductive organs.

albinstany,

I believe my biggest quarrel with using "nature" as an argument against same sex marriage is that nature teaches us quite the opposite. While it may be cheesy to quote a movie, recall Jurassic Park. One of the most memorable lines in the movie was, "Life, uh, finds a way." There was an idea that nature will find a way to break free of any boxes you put it in literally and figuratively. Nature has all types of creatures that display gestures/behaviours that would be called "unnatural" in humans because we keep putting ourselves in boxes.

Reasons for voting decision: S&G go to Pro because Con failed to use punctuation correctly, and his sentences were barely coherent. Conduct goes to Pro because Con forfeited one round--the round where Con was supposed to make his case. Arguments go to Pro because Pro gave an argument in favor of gay marriage that Con didn't respond to. Con gave two arguments against gay marriage, and Pro only refuted one of them. So each made one argument that the other didn't refute, but I gave arguments to Pro because while Pro at least tried to refute one of Con's arguments, Con made no attempt to refute Pro's argument.

Reasons for voting decision: Normally, forfeiting a round would be cause for conduct points, but since neither side acknowledged Con's actions, I fear the moderators will remove my vote.... So I vote for a tie! Long live DDO!
