Hunting is wrong because if you hunt all you are doing is murder and killing which is illegal and if you are a christian then in the bible its says you shall not murder. You also would be kilLing gods creatures. what is the difference between killing animals and killing humans they both feel pain they both have families and there cubs/kids/what ever they are need them more than your child will need you. So before you consider going hunting you might as well go on a killing spre because there is only two stupid differences and they are animals are harmless and they are Innocent. So don't kill the animals you might as well kill your neighbor or the shop owner. All animals do is mind there own business and you kill them so you should be arrested but no because no one cares about the animals and i'm putting my foot down the queen and the primeminester should just stop caring about humans only and care about animals as well because they where here before us so they should ban hunting before they should ban murder or stealing because all we do as humans is kill, kill, kill and i am ashamed to be human and i would easily prefer to be be a dog, a cat, a hamster and even a chicken. THE KILLING MUST STOP!!!!!

Alright, I support animal rights as much as the next bloke but without hunting, well, we would die.

Let's look at the definition of hunting: # To search through (an area) for prey
# To make use of (hounds, for example) in pursuing game.
# To pursue intensively so as to capture or kill
# To seek out; search for.
# To drive out forcibly, especially by harassing; chase away

I'm going to presume that you are using the dictionary's English definition of hunting. Some debate.org debaters like to change the meaning of words for their own personal benefit.

You used the Bible defense, but this a flawed defense. The Bible supports hunting.

The Bible says in Genesis 9:3, "Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything." God says that he gives us everything. The Earth is ours and he specifically mentions that he gives us everything that lives and moves as food.

Against your defense, the Bible says thou shalt not murder, but murder is only between humans. Murder is, in fact, defined as the unlawful killing of one human by another, especially with premeditated malice.

Without hunting, for years, people would have died, because there was no tofu or soy beans. They had to hunt or the human race would not have survived. The first humans had to hunt to survive and eat. If they would have died, we would not be here today, which is against God's will. God wants us to be here and provided animals so that we could eat and survive.

Well...It seems evident that you should loose the deabte. Any rebuttal now would be unfair because I would never get to respond. It's a shame that this debate was thrown away.

A big portion of the world NEEDS hunting,.. over population,.. Competing for crop land with over grazing ruminents that prefer the taste of corn rather than grass.
Obviously dont hunt endagered animals,.. wasn't aware people were hunting endagered animals for food?

FYI. I'm actually anti-game hunting laws and pro-biotech for cloning food instead of killing it. I just took this debate because I thought it would be an easy win, because pro's case was weak. I actually don't support my stance, which I can say now that I've debated and it's over.

There once were both corn and grain surpluses, but thanks to bio-ethanol and a growing world population they aren't.

Quite right, not all animals are endangered, and some are even in excess.
This is why I said "for the most part".
Only a tiny proportion of the world needs hunting.

Corn surplus huh? let me know where your keeping it and I will give $3.00/bushel cash TODAY!!

Ever heard of the White Tail deer? Plenty of them around, HUNT 'EM!!

LOL! Grain surplus, Id like to know where, I tell ya what, you find those folks that NEED to hunt for a living and show them how, where, they can get all this grain, I can put you in touch with some missionary workers that will introduce you to some African tribes that would love to hear your theories, maybe you can show them HOW to plant grain in their enviornment, or talk their corrupt govt. into allowing U.S. food and aide in whenever we try to, and stop letting it sit and spoil in there warehouses and docks!
You just have the luxury of getting your food off of a shelf.

The world is in the midst of a human population explosion.
It will have tripled within my lifetime.
Meanwhile, almost every other non-domesticated animal has suffered immense losses and some have gone extinct.
All of the people of the world currently hunting for a living could easily have survived upon the grain and corn surpluses of the world (before we decided to turn corn into ethanol).

So why is it hunting needs to remain?

the pro is obviously a Peta nutjob.

those guys care as much about animals as they do about humans... they are a detriment to the human race when you think about it.

Anyways, the government has absolutely no right whatsoever to stop someone from finding their own food source. They have no right to take our guns away (2nd ammendment was put there for a reason).

I love animals, but i also eat them. I would not personally kill one myself unless my life required it.

Hunting needs to remain, this is a pretty stupid argument on the pro side.

Start caring about humans who get murdered, for christ sake.

is the pro on crack?

go back and read the scripture bud, people in the bible both hunted animals and raised them for food

and why i posted a comment on this, i have no clue...
anybody who knows the bible at all can't argue the pro's side

Never heard of the Grand Banks - once most bounteous fishing area in the world?
The Passenger Pigeon?
The Dodo?
World tuna stocks are headed the same way. Fish farming of salmon on the other hand is doing extremely well with increasing stocks.
Look up "the tragedy of the commons".

Hmmm... with a world food supply in huge shortage far greater than we have seen in the past century,.. I would say hunting and fishing being prevented by anything would be absolutely BAD.

With 6-7 Billion people in the world and biodiversity world-wide in serious trouble, I'd say replacing hunting and fishing with farming is essential for the most part.
