First let ,me tell you that i'am not a critic who likes to insult mankind as i also am a human being. But we must all agree to this that we are the sole responsible cuase of this heated conversation of global warming. If man had'nt made machines pollution would not have been burdening mother earth and its pitful reatures on a sad note i would conclude by saying man has caused these broblems and we should be the ones solving it too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Con

While I'll agree that man has definitely contributed to global warming, I will argue that other factors have contributed to global warming as well. If I provide even one example of another cause of GW, the audience must vote CON.

1) According to the U.N., cow farts are the biggest contributor to GW.[1]
2) Monkeys breath. When mammals (such as the monkey) breath, they contribute to global warming. Ergo, monkeys contribute to GW too.

"
Actually, methane from cows farting contributes a significant proportion to NZ's GHG emissions."

I wasn't claiming otherwise.

My claim was these cows are domestic, i.e. not an argument against anthropogenic global warming.

Not to say there isn't evidence... just this isn't it.

Ragnar,
Actually, methane from cows farting contributes a significant proportion to NZ's GHG emissions.
There is a lot of serious work going on here to prevent them (being Kyoto Protocol signatories).
I would expect the Tunguska Event to cause global cooling via reflective particulates as one might expect from a nuclear winter.

PoeJoe,
Global warming as a phenomenon refers to the *change* in temperature. Unless there has been a immense increase in the number of monkeys (I suspect, quite the reverse) they cannot be responsible for GW.
At this moment, the only recent independent contributions from Nature I can think of are volcanic eruptions, which as you probably know all caused global cooling.
Domesticated cattle are only here because of humans - we are responsible for them and their emissions.

Harshit,
I think you're quite right and should win this debate - not that that means anything.

Cheers

Technically, since aurochs are extinct, I don't think there are many non-domestic cows farting :D.

Althought the Tunguska Event certainly had nothing to do with humans... and that could potentially be the main cause of the current warming :D
