liberty is a humans right over material resources
the right to education is about a right to choose how u see the world and how enlightened you become similarly the right to die reflects personal control and responsibility of an individuals body and this freedom is essential for a democratic and liberal society. the decision to live should be ones own and not dictated by outside influence. we have rights to attributes of development such as food and education however these lead us into unnaturally long life spans our bodies aren't built for resulting in minor or suffer deficiencies in later years. if we can claim the advantages of development we should be able to refuse them and be able to prevent the effects of them by dying when we are ready before we start to deteriorate so we can die free from the cost of increasing life expectancy and be remember as who we were not as who we became due to extended half-life

On the face of it it seems pretty clear that my opponent would be right given the fact that we should all be able to control our own lives without interference, however when tackling specific definitions into account, there is a significant difference between choosing how long you live and committing suicide. Evolutionary science has advanced a lot in the 21st century but even without it it is obvious to scientists that the human race is the species it is today because it evolved perfectly for survival.

The most important evolutionary step might be arguably having opposable thumbs, or something similar like being able to stand upright but I think the common sense argument that first and foremost for a species to survive it has to want to live. The desire to live is taken for granted a lot when thinking about evolutionary traits that allow us to survive but it is vital to humans and every other species.

The desire to commit suicide is therefore a major psychological anomaly despite the large number of suicides that happen in this day and age. As a species we cannot encourage the any psychological anomalies by making them basic human rights.

Another evolutionary milestone was the ability of humans to live past their age of fertility meaning longevity is also very important to humans. It aids in the better development of children to have their grandparents around when growing up to provide help to the parents. So prolonging life is equally important to us.

Assisted suicide to someone who will suffer until they reach an inevitable death is very charitable and makes sense but we cannot make the leap from taking someone out of their misery, to making suicide a basic human right.

I would first like to state that evolution is the development of a species the point of which is not just survival but also expansion and with this growth should come the ability to understand mortality and therefore due to having evolved the necessary intellect be able to choose suicide as a life (or in this case death) choice.

Also evolution is based on natural selection and ho his impacts the genes each generation inherits therefore the wish to die is a psychological anomaly we must get rid of allowing death of people with this pron-ency is logical to eradicate this "anomaly"

Though I respect the positive impact grandparents have on children i would argue that an aging population is unsustainable and expensive to look after. longer life expectancy in the theorized stage 5 of the DTM has caused prediction of a high dependency ratio which would slow our evolution and cause more stress (the main cause of suicide) upon future generations. It is obnoxious to think we can sustain the past without damaging the future so if the past is happy to leave why should we obstruct them.

I think it is very important to remember that suicide could be classed as a side effect of mental illness so if assisted suicide its acceptable due to the persons physical limitations then psychological disabilities are of equal prescience.

To conclude suicide becoming legal marks faith in human minds and capabilities and is positive towards our continued evolution.

I find this global discussion concerning because it demonstrates how important choices are being forced upon society by unjustifiable or explainable rules. In an overpopulation crisis where all the figures are telling us we causing unsustainable disruption due to growing population it is ridiculous to prevent people from legally dying when they want to. The gross misdirection of the law is to be penalized further when countries against choosing suicide then embrace the death penalty despite the lack of worth this reflects on human life.

soooooooo stupid... it is 'not allowed' because they want to protect people going through hard times and do what they can to make thier lives better or their mental stability better... Most attempted suisides are a cry for help... If the person is dead set (pun intended) on killing themselves then they will. suiside illigalization is a GOOD thing
