Kobe is by far the best player in the NBA. He was successful in getting his team to the NBA Finals coming out of the WESTERN CONFERENCE! He is a eight time all defensive team member. and seriously who drops 81 points these day??
EXACTLY. bring it....

Lebron has done more than Kobe has in his young career.

Coaches who can capitalize on a long career would prefer Lebron due to youth, everything else equal.

Kobe's rings were due more to Shaq than his skills.

Compare the stats:

http://bleacherreport.com...

"Many critics want to discredit Kobe's stats (28 PPG, 6 RBG, 5 APG, and 1.8 STLS) as not being as great as other seasons and while also comparing his numbers to Lebron's huge statistical season (30 PPG, 8 RPG, 7 APG, and 1.8 STLS). "

The numbers speak for themselves.

Lebron James??
are u kidding me. yes, he's a great player, but kobe will handle him any day.

lebron james may come close to kobe in scoring, but what about defense??

kobe bryant has been named to the nba all defensive team EIGHT times!!

2nd team defense: 2001, 2002
1st team defense:2000, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008

Kobe Bryant gets doubled team every game and tripled team other times, and he still scores at his own will.

in order to be a great player you have to make your team better and that is exactly what Kobe Bryant brings to the table in L.A., leadership.
he has taken the young guys under his wings and still manages to drop 30 a night.

Kobe hands down....

I'll concede the defense issue but not to the extent that it proves your point. The fact is, Lebron is putting up numbers better than Kobe in about every area AND he's younger. When he gets to Kobe's age, he'll be even more dominant.

I think your wrong on the leadership issue. Here is Schillings take:

http://www.boston.com...

"But as a fan I was watching the whole thing, Kobe, his teammates and then the after effects of conversations. He'd yell at someone, make a point, or send a message, turn and walk away, and more than once the person on the other end would roll eyes or give a 'whatever dude' look."

That doesn't look like good leadership to me.

Or ESPN:

http://sports.espn.go.com...

Abbott: Their teammates would know best. I'm quite certain that if you had dosed Andrew Bynum with truth serum last summer, and asked him this question, he would have quickly said, "LeBron James."

Adande: We haven't seen the implied dismissal of teammates from LeBron that we did from Kobe all last summer -- despite the fact Kobe has more to work with than LeBron. It was as if Kobe did not realize that saying you wanted better players around you was a slap in the face to the guys who are already wearing your uniform. He must have missed that leadership lesson.

Broussard: LeBron. His encouragement of, and belief in, his teammates clearly lifts their level of play. Because he exudes so much confidence in them -- whether they miss the shot or not -- they play with a confidence, a certainty and a swagger that players of mediocre ability often lack. Kobe's improved as a teammate this season, but LeBron's the easy winner here.

Hollinger: LeBron by default. Not because he's a great leader, but I mean … has he ever lobbied for having his franchise center traded (or failed to lobby against it, depending on whom you believe)? Has he ever mailed in the second half of a Game 7? Has he ever given the impression that he cares about being the star more than winning?

Sheridan: I'll take LeBron, although I wouldn't say either of these guys is a traditional leader. But James is the better player in terms of getting his teammates involved and making everyone around him a better player. Kobe is more of a one-man, I-am-the-show type of player.

What happened to Shaq? Why does Koby whine all the time? Why did he rape that girl?

Leadership I think goes to LeBron.

Again with the stats:

http://www.nba.com...=

EEF

LeBron 30.3 to Kobe's 26.6.

Out of the 4 years they have data, LeBron beats Kobe three times.

Lebron has size against kobe, one of lebrons big things is his, back up and charge move. He gets those lay ups because everyone is afraid to get in the way of a rampaging bull. If you notice, kobe guarding lebron, when lebron backs up kobe chases him right out and sticks. No one can score like kobe, even while getting tripple teamed, no one has defensive smarts like kobe. It is no question that kobe is better than lebron right now. The debate was not about who coaches would choose, because if it was, a new building team would choose lebron because of his youth and dominance. But a ready team in need for scoring, defensive, and leadership dominance would choose Kobe HANDS down.

anyone care to argue?

I'd like to point out that if anybody makes their team better, it's LeBron, not Kobe.
