Con

Pro's word is rather long, but it is somewhat boring and useless since it's only a strain of proteins...

Prefer this: Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia-fear of long words [1]

Not only is it long, but it has hippo in it! :)

I don't always use long words, but when I do, I prefer hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia.

Vote CON!

@kyro where in the resolution/throughout the debate did it indicate that it was a competition for a longer word?

Reasons for voting decision: I don't think hippos have any standing. But as lannan fails to justify or even attempt to support his position on why it is the longest, and as there is technically no 'debate' as it is supposedly defined, vote goes to CON.

Reasons for voting decision: I say con since it is true that even if he used a longer word it would be impossible for him to beat you since it is the longest, plus con's word is ironic, and has hippo.

Reasons for voting decision: Lannan presented a "word" but no evidence that it can be called a single word, since it is the chemical name of a protien (which should have spaces). And then Cameron wins with humor.

Reasons for voting decision: The topic was "long word in the English language debate" which either means "longest" which is utterly idiotic for picking a topic based on judgements only (English language has no "deciders" to decide whether a word is a word, so you can just make one up and it counts as much as the words I am using now), or it's just better word. Either case, CON should win.
