some parents dont have much control over thier kids or might not around much maybe they were working and the teenagers have to watch them and they watch the games or watch what they watch

But its not all the media fault bc this what people want hear and see and think its cool and it could most definalty be blamed on the parents because all theses video games and music have age ratings on them

In that case, no, it doesn't have an effect on today's youth. It's the reverse. Today's youth reflect the violence within the media. It's capitalism, and they'll generate media that sells, the same media aimed toward the youth who are willing to pay for it. ROCKSTAR games are quite aware that Grand Theft Auto: Barbie Tea House edition isn't going to appeal to appeal much. The sheer success of violent video games indicate society, and subsequently youth society, are the ones dictating content through the power of their own wallet.

Media is a reflection of reality, if today's youth are violent, then likely will also be their media, as relates to their lives. The sooner it's no longer reflective it'll stop selling and they'll alter the content.

Assuming you aren't referring to entertainment media such as gaming and and the movie industry - in which case you'd still be wrong, but are in fact referring to the news media. The news media's purpose is to keep the public informed and part of that job is the reporting of violent crime.

Apologies if I've been stupid and not understood properly.
