mike huckubee does not have what it takes to be president. he makes personal attacks on people beliefs and has made too many unfair pardons. he makes pardons to people just becuase he knows them. he has said that god wants him to win. his speeches are based more on religion than politics. he brags about bringing Arkansa out of a 2,000,000,000 dollar deficit. Mitt Romney brought
Massechusetes out of a 3,000,000,000 dollar deficit without raising taxes.

"mike huckubee does not have what it takes to be president."

Mike Huckabee has the most executive experience of any of the presidential candidates, including Romney. Huck is a proven leader and a man of conviction, this is evident in his policies and records. He has never been pro infanticide. He has never been pro gay marriage.

"he makes personal attacks on people beliefs"

Romney has spent the last two weeks running a despicable negative campaign because it is all he has. He has lied and twisted facts.

From factcheck.org

Romney launched another negative ad in Iowa this week, where the Republican presidential candidate has been battling the new front-runner, Huckabee. This time, Romney attacks Huckabee's record on methamphetamine laws and the clemencies he granted as governor of Arkansas. We found that:

* The ad says Romney "got tough on drugs like meth" while governor of Massachusetts, but the legislation he supported never passed, and his state's laws are much weaker than Arkansas'. Convicted meth dealers face both minimum and maximum prison terms in Arkansas that are four times longer than those in Massachusetts.

* The ad misrepresents news articles, implying that they supported Romney's actions as governor when that's not what the news organizations said. One article, in fact, gave critical views of Romney's refusal to issue a pardon.

If anyone is attacking personally it is Romney not Huckabee. Huckabee has not attacked anyones beliefs, the article you are probably going to refer to is from the New York Times. The interviewer was trying to goad Mike into commenting on Mormonism an Mike would not bite. Mike asked the question "Don't
Mormons believe that the devil and Jesus are brothers?" The interviewer new more of the LDS faith than Mike did. He was asking a question not attacking anyone.

"has made too many unfair pardons"

What unfair pardon has Huck made? What makes a pardon unfair?

"he makes pardons to people just becuase he knows them"

Can you give an example of this happening?

"he has said that god wants him to win"

That is not an exact quote, but even if it is, how does this make Mitt Romney a better candidate than Huckabee?

"his speeches are based more on religion than politics"

This is not accurate, you made an assertion, please provide evidence.

"he brags about bringing Arkansas out of a 2,000,000,000 dollar deficit."

Which actually is an argument for him being a good president. His tax plan is more conservative than Mitt's. The fair tax is the only good federal tax system
that we can adopt. Mike wants to abolish the IRS, Mitt wants to keep the status
quo which is weakening the dollar(adding to inflation).

"Mitt Romney brought
Massechusetes out of a 3,000,000,000 dollar deficit without raising taxes."

Which is a good point for Romney, but not entirely accurate. From American Specter.

On the subject of fees and taxes a pre-The Note Rick Klein reported in 2003: "A survey of states grappling with spending crises has found that Massachusetts imposed more fee hikes than any other state in the nation this year - at least $500 million. Governor Mitt Romney and the Legislature, faced with a multibillion dollar shortfall, made it more expensive to get a marriage license or a divorce, file a court case, buy a house, renew a driver's license, or tap into a host of other state services.

In addition his moral stances are the big reason he is falling dramatically in the polls. He has stated he will not support a federal ban on abortion. He was once pro infanticide, now he has changed his stance. While changing your stance is a good thing in this case, he will not do
anything to change the policy that lead to 33% of my generation being slaughtered.

you say romney has lied and twisted facts?

huckabee has talked on how 80 percent of arkansa voted to raise taxes for new roads. what actually happened was huckabee raised taxes by an absurd 46 percent. then 80 percent of people voted on making better roads. they never voted to raise taxes.

huckabee has bashed romney multiple times for being mormon and not once has romney made a personal attack on huckabee.

huckabee pardoned a murderer because he used to work for the state gov.
huckabee pardoned another man and no one knows why.
huckabee pardoned a murderer because a minister said the guy was a good guy 2 weeks later that same man killed another person

huckabee has said that he wants to take people with aids out of society.

Mitt romney brought massechussetes out of a 3,000,000,000 dollar deficit WITHOUT raising taxes.

huckabee took campaign money to buy himself a jet.
he took gov. money and bought himself a grill.

huckabee is not a moral man and must not be president.

Because of the absurdity of the argument put forth by my opponent I will take the opportunity to educate the youngster in what limited way I can. I do not claim to be a debate champion or anything but I will address the post for instructional purposes.

advidiun you did not address any evidence provided in my first post. In fact you posted an oppositional statement in the face of contrary evidence and a direct quote.

You posted: "huckabee has bashed romney multiple times for being mormon and not once has romney made a personal attack on huckabee. "

You neglected to provide any proof or evidence for your claim. In my opening post I addressed a specific incident which is the only case you can claim that Huckabee bashed Romney for being a Mormon. At this point you should have addressed the same incident by providing a scenario or statement that refuted mine. Something along the line of "Huckabee has been to seminary and should know that the question he posed was insulting or not true" I also posted an instance where I thought Romney was running a negative add you neglected to address this. While it is not absolutely critical to address every point your opponent makes it is important to at least attempt rebuttal of the "strong points" or statements that seem to contradict your points with evidence or logical conclusions.

You posted:"huckabee pardoned a murderer because he used to work for the state gov.
huckabee pardoned another man and no one knows why.
huckabee pardoned a murderer because a minister said the guy was a good guy 2 weeks later that same man killed another person"

These may or may not be valid points to support your assertion. However you provide no source for your claims. You did not provide enough information for each specific incident. For example, a date and a name would be helpful.
However your terminology in describing the events cost you these points. If you
research the cases you would see that in at least two of the cases you mentioned no pardon was granted. Parole was granted, a practice that the governor does not have the authority to grant. You would have been better served with a statement that said Huckabee pushed for the release of Wayne Dumond. Then you could have quoted a letter Huckabee wrote or allegations from the parole board. This would have strengthened and lent credence to your argument.

You posted:
"huckabee has said that he wants to take people with aids out of society."

Although this was years ago you could have used this one with effectiveness if you gave the specific quote. You could turn this into evidence for your argument, provide when, where, and the direct quote. Then explain why you think it is relevant to your argument.

You posted:
"Mitt romney brought massechussetes out of a 3,000,000,000 dollar deficit WITHOUT raising taxes."

Once again you offered no evidence to refute the evidence I posted in response to this assertion. You should have said that the fees I stated were not taxes but fees. This would support your point that Romney did not raise taxes. Most people would see it as splitting hairs but you could score points with a technicality.

You posted:
"huckabee took campaign money to buy himself a jet.
he took gov. money and bought himself a grill."

Your facts are skewed, this would be a weakness. If you were to address these points you would have to research them a little better. The jet was a flight not a whole jet. You could make an argument of misappropriated funds but you would have to list the facts as the relate to the events.

You posted:
"huckabee has talked on how 80 percent of arkansa voted to raise taxes for new roads. what actually happened was huckabee raised taxes by an absurd 46 percent. then 80 percent of people voted on making better roads. they never voted to raise taxes"

This was the best effort of your argument. You gave statistics and an argument
for why it was relevant to the debate. Good job. A little more detail would be nice however, like which bill it was and what year it happened in.

All and all you need to work on supporting evidence and detail. This will come from research. After you get that done you can work on your delivery. Also try to address your opponents main points and counterpoints. If you just ignore most of them people will think you can't engage on those subjects. I hope I helped you in some way! Merry Christmas! Mormons do celebrate Christmas right?

You say you want specific facts well here you go.

1. Huckabee has been investigated by the ethics comittee 14 times and charged with 5 violations involving his campaign money. He used senate campaign money to pay himself 14,000 dollars and did not report it to the comittee. He then used 43,000 dollars in Leut. Gov. campaign money to buy himself a plane and when he reported it, he hid that fact the HE actually owned the plane. If he had owned the plane, it would have been a violation of campaign laws. He refused subpoenas of the ethics comittee. He did not report recieving 23,500 dollars in donation. Huckabee sued the ethics comittee twice so they would lay off. he also spent some of his 60,000-a-year business funds from the state on personal things, specifically, pizza, a dog house, a bbq grill, and panty hose for his wife.

2. When he left office, he spent 13,000 dollars to destroy the hardrives of almost 100 computers. SOmething to hide??? Most think so. Maybe campaign budget fraud.

3. This is about those pardons. You asked me to name one pardon with no reason behind it. I can name a few.

James Maxwell- killed a church of christ minister. Huckabee reduced his sentence because he worked at the governors mansion.

Samuel W. Taylor- was convicted on drug charges. he was pardoned because Taylor knew Huckabee's sister in high school. There really werent any other reasons anyone could find.

Don Clark - convicted of theft. Pardoned on a pastors recomendation??? Thats no reason to release a thief. (Fun fact: Huckabee released many many people on pastorial recomendation.)

Denver Whitham (my personal favorite) - beat a man to death with a lead pipe. Was released on parole by Huckabee for unkown reasons.

Wayne Dumond - convicted of rape. Was released after Huckabee heard Dumond had been "born again".

Gov. Jim Guy Tucker - forced to resign office, Huckabee took his place as governor. After 21 days in prison Gov. Tucker was pardoned. Huckabee gave his reason to be that holding Tucker would "cost too much".

Huckabee granted clemency on average once every four days. The three previous governors of arkansas served almost twice as long and still only granted half that.

Now do you want anything else?

Whatever you think about Romney, Huckabee is ANYTHING but honest. Do your homework on the man, he is the worst kind of liar, the kind that accuses others of being dishonest. Its a shame that so many of my good fellow Americans have fallen for his slick Cliton-like deciet and are drinking his kool-aid. He doesn't have a chance anyway, thumping the Bible is probably not gonna fool the other 49 states. Only those in the state of I.diots O.ut W.andering A.round...

For a 12-year old, that's not bad. Although I support Romney, I pretty much like both. I just prefer Romney for presidency.

They both scare me to be perfectly honest. This country cannot really take another ultra-conservative President like Romney or Huckabee. We need a liberal with progressive ideas, not someone who is bent on illegalizing same-sex marriage, banning abortion, or prohibiting funds for stem cell research. What we need is a President who will change us for the better, not Romney or Huckabee.
