Con

If we see in this sense then many less people in India is poor

Pro

Rs = The Currency of India = Rupee

The Con states that a person earning 26 to 32 rupees per day would not be considered poor depending on if they live in rural India or Urban India

1 US Dollar is equal to just over 50 Indian Rupees....
The Con is stating that a person in India whose daily salary is barely over 50 cents a day is NOT poor

50 cents a day will give a person a salary of $182.5 a year in India. That's $182 to buy food, water, clothes, and pay for your child's education for an ENTIRE YEAR

A person who makes just over 50 cents a day would be very poor even when you DON'T consider that the costs of these essential items has been steadily increasing throughout India year after year.

I mean to say that this argument by govt about the daily income of Rs.26 and Rs.32 in rural and urban areas respectively is wrong .I am against this very thought

Pro

I agree with the Con because I too am against this very thought. I find it ridiculous at how the government would consider a salary of this type to not be considered poor...

Seeing as how we both agree that 20 to 30 rupees a day is a very low salary and those with that salary are poor, then I guess that this was more of an agreement over an issue rather than a debate

Reasons for voting decision: I'm giving Pro one point (though maybe not the right point) on the grounds that the instigator of the debate ought to be clear about the topic. The contender shouldn't discover in the middle of the debate that he is in agreement with the instigator.
