Giving isn't the same as taking. Giving just implies taking.
It is like saying punching is hurting. This is not the case. Punching implies hurting.
Same thing with giving and taking. When I give something to you, it implies you "taking" something from me.

When I give you an apple, that implies that I took it from somewhere.
